"Keith come downstairs! There's someone I want you to meet!" I hear my uncle calling me from downstairs. I was standing in front of the mirror fixing my hair and patting my cheeks.

"Okay Keith... you will make a good first impression" I tells himself, pointing at my own reflection. "It won't be awkward. It's what? Only your first time having strangers in the house since grandma, right? Hehe..." I started laughing nervously.

I stood up from my bed and slowly creak open the door, peaking my head out a little. I heard loud chattering downstairs. A sound that I was completely unfamiliar with. I ran my fingers through my hair and sighed. "I hope they don't make fun of my mullet..."

I proceeded to walk down the creaky wooden stairs. Jess sees me and quickly pulls me into the living room. Two adults and a male teenager sat on the sofa, speaking with Noah. I waved awkwardly at the family.

"Hey..."

"Oh, hello" the mom of the other family smiles and shakes my hand. "You must be... Keith, right? I'm Mary and this is my husband Ian."

She points to her husband and he shook my hand as well. "Nice to meet you" I greet.

"Keith, I want you to meet Lance. He's a hardworking teenager, two years your senior. He's here to assist our family and trade with us" Jess pushes me slightly towards the taller guy who stood up from the sofa and shook my hand.

His touch was so... fucking... warm. Lance was extremely attractive. My prayers have been answered. God is indeed real.

I was squealing in the inside, but on the outside, I played it cool. 'Alright Keith... don't embarrass yourself' i tell myself.

I realized that I was holding onto his hand for far too long and quickly released it. "Ah! Sorry... I didn't mean-"

"It's okay. I don't mind" Lance smiled. God... his smile is so cute... no Keith! Control yourself!

"You kids should go outside and get to know each other" Mary chuckled. Lance shrugs and gestures at me to follow him outside. He was wearing dirty blue jeans and a dirty white t-shirt. Like he just finished digging up roots in a garden.

"So, tell me about yourself. What do you like to do?" Lance asks. I took a seat next to him on the porch swing and lifted my legs to up my chest and hug it. Lance was rocking the swing back and forth slowly, gazing at the field of grass and lake in the distance. Large mountains surrounded the area, trees among trees could be seen very foggy from afar.

"I like... to fly?" I say, kind of in a question-like tone. I sounded so unsure. Come on Keith... you're so sure about it. You love pretending to fly!

"Fly?" Lance laughed. "How do you do that?"

"I spread my arms out. And I follow the direction of the wind. It's kind of like flying, I guess" I laugh, rubbing the back of my neck. "Uh... it's kinda childish..."

"Not at all childish" Lance grins. "That sounds really nice... you're kind of like..." Lance taps his chin, thinking hard. "Pocahontas!" He exclaims, but then coughs and lowers his voice. "Whoops... I didn't mean to say that so cheerfully."

"Theres nothing wrong with being cheerful" I face him. "Being happy is a good thing. Besides, you can't live being sad all the time. Life is short after all. It's best that as individuals, we should live life to the fullest."

Lance looks into my eyes and I couldn't help but stare back. They were so blue... like the lakes and skies. I felt myself kind of melting because of it.

"You know what, Keith Kogane? You're alright" Lance pops open his soda and takes a sip, spilling it a little over his knuckles. I watched him gulp it down, his Adams apple moving slowly.

He swipes his mouth with his bare arms and looks at me, then laughs. I blushed a little and looked away awkwardly. What the fuck is wrong with me...

"Have you... been to the McClain farm, Keith?" He asks. I shook my head. If I ever went, he would have known, right? Since he worked there. I heard about the farm. Noah would tell me how small it was but they grew the best fruits. The McClain family has a high reputation in the Canadian Rockies. Everyone bought their goods and traded with them. Even my family.

I stretched out my legs and stared at my boots. "I like the fruits you grow though... they're nice."

They're nice?

Really Keith?

Lance laughs. "You should come over one day. Yeah, there's gonna be a lot of kids there, but I promise, my siblings don't bite."

"Maybe I will" I smile. "But uh... I don't have a boat..."

"You can ride around the lake with your erm... horse, right?" Lance points to Randolph who was standing next to my family's Ford truck. "But... that will take a long time..."

"Maybe you could give me a ride with your boat?" I ask. Lance nods.

"Yeah, sure. Do you want to go right now?"

"Really?"

"Nothing's stopping us."

Lance gets up from the porch swing, lifting off his weight. The swing suddenly becomes too light and I could feel myself swinging off.

I follow him to the small boat sitting on the shore of the lake. "Mom! Dad! I'm taking Keith to the farm!" Lance yells at his parents from inside the house. I heard them saying something like 'okay' and 'don't drown'.

Lance helps me on his boat and I fall and scratch my knees. Yikes... it's very wobbly. Like a waterbed. Lance groans and helps me sit down properly. "Aw man... so you've never been on a boat?"

"No..."

Lance sighs. "Are you scared of the water?"

"What the hell? No, why would I? I live in front of a lake for god sakes" I cross my arms. "Like your dad said, don't make us drown."

"So... you are scared."

I stick out my tongue at him. Okay, maybe a little scared. But I can trust Lance. He seems like he knows what he's doing. Lance grabs the paddles from underneath the seats and digs it between the rocks. He pushes the small boat free into the lake and I scream.

"I thought you weren't scared!" He laughs.

At this point, I slipped off my seat and was now sitting on the floor of the boat, shaking. I looked up and saw Lance paddling above me.

'So strong...' I thought to myself as I looked at his arms. It was like he was working out. The water that splashed on his  biceps were glimmering under the sun. 'God bless...'

Lance furrows his eyebrows as he catches me staring. "Uh- I- erm.." I stammered and looked away.

"I thought your view would be the lake, not me" Lance rolls his eyes. My eyes travel to the large body of glimmering blue water around us and I gasp.

It's beautiful... but scary at the same time. If something goes wrong now, we're drowning. Ooh no... we're gonna drown...

"Lance we're gonna drown!" I yell, piercing his ears. "LANCE PLEASE WE'RE GONNA DIE!"

"NO WE'RE NOT! Calm down!" Lance yells.

I felt my chest squeezing and my breathing growing short. This is painful... i pressed my hand against my chest and looked down. This is sickening me...

"Keith? Keith!"
