Chapter 5: Mr. Mahone

Ever since the Camila's field work a week ago, the two seem to be more civil to one another. There are lesser bickering and Lauren's surprisingly not giving Camila a hard time in the office.

No more nonsense assignments and Lauren is more focused on giving Camila proper training. She's being really polite to the intern.

"Ms. Cabello, there's someone who wants to see you. The name's Austin Mahone." Susan called her in Lauren's office. She excused herself and Lauren dismissed her immediately. It's almost lunchtime so the intern can take a break already.

Why is Austin in here? He's been out of the country for two years already and it surprises her to know that her ex boyfriend decided to set foot to their company building again. But nonetheless, Camila faced him.

"Austin, long time no see. Take a seat." Camila broke from the hug as Austin took the chair.

"It's nice seeing you again Mila. It's been what? 2 years? Nothing has changed, you're still the stunning girl I fell in love."

"Yeah right." Camila replied sarcastically. And he's still the typical Austin Mahone he used to date. She wondered how she even got to a relationship with the boy. Well they're friends now, she just hopes Austin will get that she won't be anything other than that again. "So what brought you here?"

"I just closed a deal in a nearby company and decided to make a visit. You think you'll have time for a lunch with me?"

"I really don't know Aus--"

"Come on. I'll be here for two days only then I'll fly back again. I just want to spend some time with some friends before I head back." Austin asked desperately. Camila tried to reject his offer again but Austin seemed so genuine to her. And besides, it's only a lunch with a friend, so why not?

"Gosh you're so persistent. Let me just collect my things and we'll head down. It's almost lunch time so I'm free."

Austin grinned happily and waited for Camila. "Why such in a rush?" Lauren commented, noticing Camila.

"Uhm, I'm having a lunch with an old friend. He's waiting for me outside. I'll see you later?" Camila said in a hurry.

Lauren can't help but be intrigued who the guy is, so she looked from her glass window and saw Camila hugging a boy who seemed to enjoy it very much. Lauren's stomach drop and anger crept into her system. Is she jealous? She shook the thought. No, that can't be.

Pacing back and forth, Lauren is already annoying Normani with her aimless walking.

"Can you stop that? You're making me dizzy." Lauren didn't mind her and continued to her tracks. Camila is already 15 minutes late and she doesn't know why, but it really bothers her the absence of the younger girl. If it was a week ago, she should have been so relieved not seeing the girl. But why is she feeling this type of way now?

"You know you can call her right?" Her friend suggested, exactly knowing who's the reason behind her friend's restlessness. She's the one who witnessed how the two became so close.

Stopping to her tracks, Lauren shook her head with a weak smile. "Oh, you still haven't got her number." Normani said chuckling. Lauren glared to her friend and decided to just resume her work. "she's here" her friend called her. And Lauren immediately looked up to see the girl waving happily to the same boy earlier.

Lauren suddenly lost interest to what she is doing. It irritated her how the intern stirred up her mood.

"You're late Camila." Lauren said as soon as the intern set foot to her office. She eyed Normani who instantly get it that Lauren wants her out. She knows that even how calm Lauren is, she's impulsive to things like this. Like feeling jealous. And she doesn't want to witness her friend act all stupid in front of her, so she went outside without a word.

"I'm sorry. I didn't notice the time." Camila apologized sincerely after she placed her things in her table.

This made Lauren grow more angry. What did the two do that made Camila forget about work? "You know you're being unprofessional, having a date in between work. I don't like that attitude Cabello."

Camila can't believe she's hearing this. Lauren judging affected her so much. But why? If this happened a week ago, she would have just ignored the brunette, but now it seems like she have to explain herself. She stood from her seat and walked to Lauren's table who immediately straitened up to her chair. "What's wrong with you? I already apologized. And for your information, it's just a lunch not a date." She shook her head in frustration and went to her chair. "I can't believe I have to explain that to you." She finished in clenched jaw.

A silence fell between them and the office felt so awkward. What happened to being pleased to piss each other off? Gone are the days. Now caring of what the other might say and caring of what the other is doing creeping to their systems. Are they starting to feel something? It's still unknown.

A/N: so this is it. The moment of truth! If you didn't notice, all my A/Ns are already prewritten with their corresponding chapters. That's why I don't reply to any of the comments.

By now, I'm still in my intensive review for the board exam, but as soon as I get out from the review, I'll check this one. We're not allowed to use any devices for two weeks.
