Joey

"I need you to stay here. I'm gonna go to work. I'll be back in a few hours. There's ramen noodles in the microwave and the bathroom is upstairs if you ever have to... You know." I said as I packed my book bag with my computer and notebooks.

He just stared and watched me pack.

"I thought you said you were going to be gone for a few hours" he spoke, his deep voice did not match his looks at all.

"I am."

"Then why are you packing up all that stuff?"

"Because I'm a journalist. I work for a newspaper company and I need my computer and notebooks."

"Is that what that thing is called?" He pointed to my laptop. "A notebook?"

"No, it's a computer, V" I chuckled at his cluelessness.

I was so weirded out when I found him sleeping in the corner standing up. This guy is so weird. I'm surprised he doesn't eat with his ears.

I left my apartment and caught the bus to my job, since my car is no use to me anymore.

I sat down at my cubicle and began to flip through my papers. I was working on gathering evidence and information on The Red Gang.

A notorious gang that nobody could find or know anything about until their leader was caught a few days ago and is now being held in the county jail, awaiting his trial.

And I'm sure that my brakes "suddenly not working" was no mistake.

But, luckily V was there to save me. Even if it was by accident.

He's so adorable and weird.

I stacked my files and walked them to my boss's office.

"Here, Mr. Kennedy." I placed the stack of files on his desk. "I sorted them out by their dates."

"Thank you Ms. Joseph." He opened one of the manilla folders and flipped through it. "Ms. Joseph..." He called.

I looked up at him then at V who was standing on the other side of the glass window, waving at me.

I almost screeched from surprise.

He kept smiling and knocking on the glass.

"Stop! Stop!" I mouthed the words and waved my hands.

He knocked even harder.

"What is going on?" Mr. Kennedy turned around in his chair to see nothing but the tops of other buildings and the blissful blue morning sky.

He turned back around to me. "As I was saying. I would like to give you a raise."

"A raise?!" I exclaimed happily. But all of my excitement was replaced with frustration when V came back. This time he was holding the microwave.

Was he flying? Yep, he was floating in the air.

"Go away!" I mouthed to him.

"Yes, a raise." Mr. Kennedy repeated. "Ms. Joseph, you are a very hard worker. I think it's only fair if I give you a raise or promote you to Chief editor. Would you like that?"

"Yes, I would sir" I answered while waving my hands at V, who still didn't seem to get the hint.

"You would or you wouldn't?"

"I would."

"Who are you waving at?" Mr. Kennedy turned his head around to see what the confusion was about.
