V

I had not slept all night because I was scared and I normally sleep standing up.

I just ended up staring at Joey the whole night, even in the dark with my night vision, she still looked so peaceful.

But she snores like a gorilla. Speaking of gorilla, we still need to talk about my pet Gorilla. I'm going to name him Mogilla.

Joey told me that I was watching too many old Saturday morning cartoons.

The sun began to rise and I saw how the sunlight reflected off of her skin and made it glow. It almost looked golden.

I touched and played with one of her dark curls. She was stunning. Even though she was drooling on her pillow and her hair was matted on one side.

I poked her face. But, she didn't move.

My cardiovascular organ began to pound insanely again. Wow, I must really miss home. But, I'm not ever going back.

I moved closer to her and stared at her skin. I wish I had skin that turned golden in the sunlight. Maybe then, Joey would like me more.

She squinted and her eyes quickly opened.

"What time is it?" She sat up.

I looked over at the digital clock that sat on the nightstand.

"That time." I pointed.

She looked over at the clock and sighed.

"Shit, I'm late for work."

She slid out of bed and walked into the bathroom. I followed her and watched as she shut the door in my face.

"Can I go with you to your work?"

"No."

"Please."

"No."

I heard water turn on and assumed that she was in the shower.

I stood there at the door until I heard the water cut off and the door swung open.

"Why not?"

"Because" she walked out with her hair dripping wet and her pajamas clung to her body.

"Because what?"

"Just stay here V, ok?"

"But what if my brothers find me?"

She sighed and didn't repsond as she put some kind of thick yellow substance on her arms. "What's that?" I looked over her shoulder.

"Shea butter." she answered.

"Please can I go with you?"

"Fine" she muttered. "But don't embarass me... And don't use your powers."

"Yay!" I clapped.

"Hi, I'm V." I waved to a person that walked past.

She scowled over her shoulder at me. But, I just waved at her.

"Hi I'm V" the guy walking past ignored me. "Hi, I'm V."

"V, what are you doing?"

"I'm greeting everyone. I read that it's great to give good first impressions" I shook her hand. "Hello Joey, how are you doing today?"

"Stop embarrassing me." she pulled her hand away. "Go sit down please."

I begrudgingly sat down in a chair with wheels. The chair moved along with each of my movements.

"Hey Joey! Look! This chair has wheels!"

"I know." Joey replied from her cubicle.

I picked up a shiny black object that sat on the desk.

It was smooth and when I opened it up it had weird looking silver teeth in it.

"Joey," I shoved the object in her face. "What's this?"

"It's a stapler. You use it to keep papers together."

I rolled back to where my chair was previously.

I flipped the stapler around in my hands and studied it. I was curious about how it worked.

I put my finger in it and pushed the two parts together. An excruciating pain filled my body and my eyes began to leak.

"Joey! Joey! My  phalanges!" I exclaimed.

She spun around in her seat. "V, what happened?!" She held my hand and stared at the small silver tooth that was stuck in my index finger.

"I was trying to work the stapler and it bit me!"

She chuckled, but I didn't see what was so funny.

"This is gonna hurt a little okay?"

I nodded. She pulled the tooth out of my finger and I screamed.

"See, all better" she said once it was gone. She opened one of her drawers and pulled out a weird shaped piece of parchment.

"What's that? Is it something that's gonna bite me?" I asked.

"No," she shook her head. "It's a band aid V."

She covered the scar with the band aid. "Do you feel better?"

"Yes, a little." I nodded and stared at the odd colorful print on my band aid.

"Good, now stay out of trouble." She turned back around to her desk and continued working.

"Thank you."
