The Doctor paced back and forth outside of the medical tent. The medical doctor told him to leave, despite the fact that all the Doctor wanted was to remain by Rose's side. Apparently, the tent was too cramped for him to stay. He waited impatiently and anxiously for the news on Rose's condition.
His hearts beat rapidly. He bit at a fingernail. His foot tapped. He was so nervous and terrified for Rose. He knew that this treatment was necessary but he was scared that the doctor might mess up. And he knew that even if this doctor didn't, he needed to get Rose to the TARDIS to check for internal bleeding and other things that could've gone wrong.
After a literal eternity- and it means something when a Time Lord says that-, the medic's nurse came out. The Doctor thought he had heard her being called Kaguya.
"Your wife's bleeding has been stopped, the bullets removed, and her wounds stitched and bandaged. She is still unconscious but we are keeping a close eye on her. The doctor has high hopes that she will recover." The brown haired woman said.
"Kaguya, was it?" The Doctor asked.
"Yes."
"When do you think she will be ready to move? I need to find something but I don't want to leave her."
Kaguya frowned. "It may be a long time before she can be moved. But I can promise you that I will keep an eye on her for you." Kaguya said, with a small smile in an attempt to reassure the Doctor.
The Doctor was torn. He didn't want to leave Rose, but he needed to find the TARDIS. He felt like he could trust Kaguya and he knew that timing was key to ensure Rose would be okay. So he nodded.
"I'd really appreciate that. I must be off then, but I want to see her before I go." The Doctor said. Kaguya nodded, making an exception since he would just be a minute. He entered the small, hot tent. The smell of blood, sweat, and fear mingled. The Doctor gazed over the injured soldiers until his eyes found the long, blonde hair of his wife. She lay on a cot, seemingly sleeping soundly. Even as sweaty and drained as she looked, she was beautiful. The Doctor's hearts sped. He went to her, taking her hand.
Leaning down on one knee, he land his other hand on her forehead. He knew he could leave an impression of his words on her mind this way.
"Rose, I'm so sorry I have to leave you. If you wake, don't worry. The nurse Kaguya is going to take care of you. I will be back for you as soon as I find the TARDIS. It is imperative that I find it, however. I need to make sure you are okay. I promise I will come back for you. I love you."
With that, he got up and left the cramped tent behind him, heading into the jungle.
