Rose, I'm so sorry I have to leave you. If you wake, don't worry. The nurse Kaguya is going to take care of you. I will be back for you as soon as I find the TARDIS. It is imperative that I find it, however. I need to make sure you are okay. I promise I will come back for you. I love you.
Rose opened her eyes suddenly, the Doctor's voice in her head. This was unlike any dream she'd had before. No, this was him. He'd left this message with her. She dismissed the questions regarding 'how' and focused more on the 'why'. He mentioned he had to go find the TARDIS for her. Why did he need to do that? Why did he leave her behind?
Then, the pain hit.
She felt as if she'd been run over by an Arcadian bus (and those were huge). The pain radiated out from her shoulder and lower stomach. It was so odd and unfamiliar that she wasn't quite sure how to handle it.
Before her eyes even focused, she felt a soft hand in her own. It wasn't the Doctor's, but a woman's. Slowly, she was able to think past the pain, although it never dulled. She saw a tan cloth tent over her head. She turned her head to the side and was met with the sight of a woman. She had long, black hair tied back in a bun. She had a rudimentary nurse uniform on. She had small frames on her face. She looked young, perhaps in her mid-twenties. She softly smiled.
"My name is Kaguya. Your husband left you with me while he went to search for something important to the two of you." She smiled lightly, trying to ease any worries the woman might have. "I hope you don't mind, I took the liberty of having you moved to my personal tent. The medical tent serves its purpose, but it is quite a dreadful place to be."
Rose tried to speak, but her voice came out garbled and unclear.
"It's okay. It may take you a minute to regain your voice. You've been through quite a lot within the past day." Kaguya patted Rose's hand reassuringly. "You know, you and your husband have been the talk of the camp lately. A lot of the soldiers are suspicious, with you two being Brits. But I get it. Plenty of people change sides and plenty are spies. I don't know about you two, but I'm sure you're loyal. I can just tell you're good people. And I suppose they sent you about the new weapons." This caught Rose's attention. Although she'd never been a history buff before the Doctor, she'd always been interested in the World Wars. She wasn't familiar with the Pacific front well enough to know much about what had happened, but she wasn't familiar with any powerful weapons that weren't American. "I think it's absurd to use them. We don't know enough about them. And the way they've been keeping the people who brought them-" Kaguya shook her head. "I suppose it's not my place, though. I'm sure you'll see for yourself once you're up to it."
Rose cleared her throat and tried speaking again. Although a bit scraggly, her voice came out strong. "Yes, I would like to see those... weapons and the people who brought them as soon as possible."
"Well, as soon as the doctor gives you the all-clear to walk around, I'm sure someone will take you." Kaguya said.
"And where are they storing these weapons?" Rose asked, having no intention of staying in her cot that night.
"Oh, in the tent behind the armoury. I'm sure they'll show you, though. Oh, and the people are being held in the little prisoners tent." Kaguya explained, trying to point in the direction that each was in. "I haven't seen the people myself, but I've heard several people say they're odd looking. I wonder what country they came from." Kaguya mused.
Wherever they came from, Rose was starting to think more and more that it wasn't Planet Earth.
