#17 "Chaos"

Selena felt awkward. Like really awkward.

Selena made them all sit around, made them a steaming cup of tea claiming it was too cold outside and that they needed to warm up.

Nick was staring at Selena with the look of love and sadness. The devotion was clear in his eyes. Selena blushed under Nick's passionate stare. Selena had to admit that they were the perfect couple. They looked picture perfect together. They really deserved a happy ending.

"This is really a pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting Nick to come until the end of this month." Selena said, holding Nick's hand affectionately.

"I just really wanted to see you, Love." Nick said, gingerly stroking Selena's cheeks.

"Nick. We are being rude to the guests." Selena giggled, standing up to head to the kitchen.

As soon as Selena was out of earshot, Chuck frowned at Nick.

"Look, Nick. I know you are happy to see Selena again, but remember why we are here again?" Chuck said, taking a sip of tea.

"Hmm?" Nick said, staring blankly at the direction where Selena went. Chuck kicked him at that.

"OW!" Nick shouted rubbing his leg, now out of the trance.

"Mate. Snap out of it. We are here on a mission. Your brother. Ethan. Ring a bell?" Chuck growled.

"Right. My brother." Nick said.

"Nick Honey, Are you alright? I thought I heard you scream." Selena peeped her head out of the kitchen. 

"I'm alright Love." Nick smiled warmly at her. Selena smiled back. 

"I'll be soon over with my famous cookies. Don't forget to entertain our guests." Selena said as she began to cook again.

"How will I ask her if she had seen Ethan?" Nick whispered.

"You tell me. I have no idea." Chuck said, amused.

"You are seriously no help." Nick growled.

"I'm bored, Selena." Sarah said, leaning on Selena.

"Come here Sweety." Nick put Sarah on his lap and messed with her hair.

"Aww. You two look really cute." Selena said as she came out of the kitchen, holding a tray.

"I'm not cute." Nick said as he pouted, quickly grabbing the tray out of Selena's hands and setting them on the table.

"You are right. You are adorable." Selena said as she pecked Nick on the lips.

Selena felt really queasy now. She really needed fresh air. Chuck came to Selena's rescue. 

"Selena? Will you accompany me outside? I think I left something back at the cafe." Chuck said smoothly.

"Why Of Course." Selena quickly grabbed her coat, and practically ran outside.

"Better?" Chuck asked as he closed the door.

"Better." Selena said, closing her eyes.

"I had forgotten that Nick could smile like that. Ever since the incident, He rarely smiled anymore." Chuck said, lighting a cigarette.

"You guys keep on saying about the incident. What happened to Selena?" Selena asked, covering herself tightly with her coat.

"I can't tell. It's not my story." Chuck stated, breathing in the cigarette deep.

Selena sat in front of the stairs, staring at the pedestrians blankly.

"Hey. You know what?" Chuck said as he put the cigarette out.

"What?" Selena asked gloomily.

"You are already something special to Nick." Chuck said, chuckling. Selena stared at him with wide eyes. 

"Nick really loved Selena. And there will always be a part of his heart for her. But Selena is in the past. Even though he is with Selena right now, in the house, He knows that it can't last forever. He knows what will happen." Chuck said.

"I want him to be happy." Selena said with glossy eyes.

"I want that too. But he can't earn his happiness with Selena in the present. He needs to move on. That's why I think this will be good for him. He needs a conclusion." Chuck said, running his hand through his hair.

"Right. Let's just go inside." Selena said, opening the front door.

As soon as they stepped into the house, Nick stared at them with a hard stare. 

"Are you guys alright?" Nick said, pointedly.

"Never been better." Chuck said, cheekily. Selena just stared down at her lap.

"So. Selena, I have been wanting to ask you. Have you seen Ethan around?" Chuck said.

"Ethan?" Selena asked in a puzzled tone.

"Yes. Ethan. Nick's brother." Chuck said, smirking.

"Nick told me that he didn't have a brother." Selena said, glaring at Nick.

"I...Well, I..." Nick stammered.

"We agreed that there will never be any secrets between us Nick. You promised!" Selena yelled at Nick, stomping up upstairs, slamming her door.

Selena and Sarah sat there wide-eyed. What had just happened?

"Ouch." Chuck said, with a smirk.

"What the hell?" Nick yelled at Chuck.

"What did I do?" Chuck said innocently.

"You knew that I haven't told her about my brother." Nick growled, scrunching his fists hard.

"We had to get it out in the open. You would have never asked her about Ethan if I didn't do what I did." Chuck said coldly. 

"Yes, I would have. You have no right to barge in and drop a bomb on us." Nick said, standing up abruptly.

"I had to because I knew you would have just dragged it on. Well, News Flash. We are not here to play tea party with your past Girl Friend. We are here to stop your idiotic brother from doing something stupid. So go upstairs and get information out of her now." Chuck said, standing up too.

That's when all hell broke loose.
