Chapter 21
To my surprise, Greg was standing in the middle of a large number of guards. I cross my arms.
"Daughter." He states with open arms and a slight smile. I shake my head.
"Victor told me the truth." His smile evaporates.
"Ah." He says as he begins to pace in the centre of the crowd. "And where is he now?" He asks, a hand resting under his chin.
"Dead." I reply with an emotionless face. He looks taken aback.
"You killed-" He starts his accusation but I interrupt before he can continue.
"No, no, no. Don't pin this on me. He did it himself." He looks at me for a few more moments before turning and nodding slowly. After pacing for a few steps, he turns his menacing glance to me.
"So, are we going to start this fight?" He asks. I raise a brow.
"You ask permission to fight? It's not like we're here for martinis!" I exclaim, pulling out my gun and shooting one of his goons in between the eyes. "Game on." I whisper as I hear the rest of my gang get their weapons ready for the battle. This is gonna be fun.
Tyler, Ryder and Anne head off in separate directions to deal with Greg's goons.
"Hero, you can't fight him alone!" Josh yells over the chaos. I turn and face him.
"I've dealt with others. Now go help them!" I order. He looks hesitant at first but obeys. I whip back to Greg and make my way towards him in confident strides. As I get a few feet away from him, he pulls out two daggers. I mock his action, bringing out two swords from my waistband. I twirl them as we walk in a wide circle, like you see in real wrestling, waiting for the other to make the first move.
"You know, if you were my daughter, I'd be proud of your progress as a gang leader. But since you aren't," He stops in his tracks, glaring at me. I freeze and turn towards him, tilting my head ever so slightly. "You're a rival." He states sternly. I let out a loud laugh.
"You're scared of a group of young adults? Really?" His eyes narrow.
"You're just like me." He states smugly.
"I am nothing like you." I state. He cocks his head.
"You sure about that?" He smirks. I let out a battle cry as I charge full force towards him. I throw one hand in the air, bringing the sword with me. He swiftly blocks it with his dagger. I grunt with effort as I swing left and right, both getting blocked.
"You really need to work on fighting with swords, dear." Greg announces. I growl. Twirling around, I send his daggers into the air and clattering to the floor behind me.
"Before you judge me, make sure you're perfect." I state, holding a sword point to his neck.
"Do it, Hero. Kill me." He challenges. I shake my head. Putting back my swords, I pull out my handgun.
"I'd love to end it this fast but, if I do that I'll be bored fighting off your goons." I reply.
"Someone doesn't like me." He points out. I shake with anger.
"Just shut up okay?! I'm allowed to dislike someone who hurt me. I'm allowed to say what I want, laugh how I want, do what I want, and be who I want! This is my life, and if you don't like it, than something is wrong with yours. Not mine." He smiles.
"Oh but my 'dearest daughter', one day you'll be just like me." His sinister laughter rings out. "You'll see." His laughter stops abruptly as I pull the trigger. No hesitation. Not even a flinch. Just silence.
