WARNING: DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT ARTEMIS FOWL IS.

This is a cross-fandom oneshot.  I'm combining Yu-Gi-Oh GX and Artemis Fowl. If you have finished the AF series, this takes place two years after the final book and two years after Yu-Gi-Oh GX ends. That will put Aster Phoenix at one year older than Artemis.

Got who this is about yet?

I figure there is a literal Prodigyshipping, but it's a good name considering the likely IQ of Aster and Artemis.

Okay, if you haven't figured this out yet, you're dumber than Sartorious.

#sorrynotsorryAster.

Aster's POV:

My final duel in the tournament is coming up, and I'm extensively nervous, mainly because I am up against an Irish boy a year younger than me.

I'm sitting in a room, shuffling my deck. Finally I place the deck in my disk and stand up. Sartorious hands me a card.

"Go get him, Aster," he says. I nod and take the card.

"You know it, Sartorious," I reply, and walk out the door.

In the hallway, a blue-eyed boy with black hair is adjusting a bent bit of his duel disk.

"Here, let me help you," I exclaim quickly, rushing over to him.

"What's your problem?" he snaps, smacking my hand away. "I don't need your help! Foaly fixed this yesterday, and now that I'm in the final round of the world tournament, it had to break down! Just my luck that the duel's at four o'clock."

"Oh. Sorry," I reply. "I was just trying to help." I rethink his words. "You're in the final duel? I am too. I'm Aster Phoenix. So, we're versing each other?"

"Whatever," he shoots back. He adjusts his tie and then stands up. "In case you actually care, I'm Artemis Fowl the Second." He held out his hand.

I take it. "Isn't Artemis a girl's name?"

It's the wrong question. "Yes, but every so often there is a male who has the right to use that name, a male with a talent for hunting. I'm that male."

"Oh. That's cool," I says, letting go of his hand. "So, shall we?"

"May as well," he replies.

We walk onto the duel platform and stand across from each other.

~time skip to the end of the duel~

"DIRECT ATTACK, RED-EYES ULTIMATE METAL DRAGON!" Artemis shouts.

"Hold on! I play a trap card- Mirror Force! This destroys all your attack position monsters!"

"I also use a trap! Rise of The Recon! (you knew it was coming.) When one or more of my monsters is destroyed, I get to summon three Fairy Tokens in attack mode, each with 400 attack points, and attack with them!"

My LP dropped to zero and I fell forward. Artemis deactivated his duel disk and walked off the stage. "Nice dueling you, Aster Phoenix."

~Two months later~

I hurry towards a taxi to head to the next tournament location and instantly bump into someone.

"Hey, watch where you're going!" a familiar voice snaps.

"Artemis?" I blurt, straightening.

"Aster?" he replies, surprised.

"Nice to see you again after the duel!" I exclaim. "How's life as the world's #1?"

"All right, I guess," he says. "I cannot help but feel slightly guilty for taking that throne. After all, I already have a seat as the greatest juvenile criminal mastermind of the twenty-first century. I hope you don't feel prejudiced against me for that."

I shake my head. "No, no, Artemis. Come on. Are you going to be in the tournament?"

"Yes, in fact. Let's go," he nods.

Soon, the two of us are walking down the streets of Dublin, talking about our different decks, interests, friends and families. Artemis, despite being rather socially deprived, is actually an interesting person, once you get him talking.

We stop at a cafe, neither one of us wanting to reach the arena and be seperated. I get a pumpkin spiced latte and Artemis gets a coffee with like three grains of sugar.

Too soon, we finish our drinks and have to head out. As we reach the arena, we are assigned rooms according to our places in the last tournament. So naturally, Artemis and I are in the same suite.

Domino City is quiet at night, despite being so big. It's silent, and I'm almost to sleep when Artemis bolts up in bed and screams, "MYLES! BECKETT!"

I know from our conversation that those are his little brothers. Once he's calmed down a bit, I walk over and awkwardly touch his shoulder. "Artemis?"

He looks down at the bedsheets. "My apologies, Aster. I did not mean to wake you."

"Eh, it's fine, I was awake already. What's up?"

"Just a bad dream, Aster. You can go back to sleep, I will be fine."

I catch his other shoulder and turn him to face me. "Ra, Artemis, don't you ever use contractions?"

He chuckles. "Perhaps not." His hand lands on my wrist and he freezes. "Sorry, I'm not used to...whatever you're doing."

I sit and hug him. "I'm comforting you, Arty," I say with a giggle.

"What. Did. You. Just. Call. Me?" he hisses through his teeth. Nevertheless, he gingerly hugs me back, and sighs. "Suprisingly, this is somewhat nice."

I smile. "Hugs are a way to show affection and comfort."

Artemis stiffens. "Affection?"

My eyes widen. "Not like that, Artemis, I was just being friendly."

"No, I meant like that," he whispers. "I- this is difficult to admit for me, but I believe I have what regular teenagers call a crush on you."

If possible, my eyes go even wider. "Really?"

He hesitates, then nods. "Yes. I...oh gods. I like you, Aster Phoenix."

"Artemis..." I reply quietly. "I don't think I like you."

His head drops slightly. "Oh."

"No, what I mean is, and I really hate to be the cliche person in this situation, I love you."

His breath catches in his throat. "Then, would you mind if I showed you another way to show affection?"

"Not at all," I say, and kiss him right on the lips.

I don't know if this is meant to last, but my father once told me, "Aster, when you are a teenager, you will have strange new feelings for different people. It doesn't matter who it is, but I can bet you'll fall in love with a prodigy like yourself."

My father was wrong. I didn't fall in love with prodigy.

I fell in love with a genius.
