-CHAPTER EIGHT-
IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THIS
Michael walked to class the next morning on no sleep, tired and feeling absolutely horrible about what had happened with Ann last night. The thing that bugged him the most about it all- he couldn't have done a thing about it.
"It was for her own good, boy..."
"Not entirely, that was taking it too far!"
Michael was yelling at the voice inside his head, causing a few people passing him by to give him strange looks. He smiled awkwardly at them as he walked to his ROTC class, and sat down when he got there as the other cadets filed in. There were the first-years through the fourth-years all in that class, and among them were Ann and Zach being the last to come in.
Zach walked ahead to the front, and Ann passed by Michael and gave him a quick mean look before she walked off to her seat that was in the front with Zach.
"She hates me..."
"She doesn't hate you, she just thinks she loves Zach..."
"Is there really any difference?" Michael quietly asked, as he looked at Ann and Zach looking over at each other, smiling.
"That doesn't matter, what does matter is making her ours!" Michael scowled at the two, and he felt a burning hate in his heart.
"You're right, it doesn't... to think that I willingly gave my virginity to her, only to have her break up with me a few weeks later so she can mess around with another guy, like Maconahey..." His voice growled at the mentioning of Zach's last name, which only made him angrier.
Ann then all of a sudden looked back at Michael, and she smiled at him a little.
Michael was surprised.
"Why, what? Did she just..." He felt the anger leave him, only to be replaced with a frown on his face.
"I must be seeing things, is all... there's no way she could still like me after what I supposedly did to her last night..." Michael slumped back into his seat, feeling conflicted by how he felt and how his possessor wanted him to feel.
Michael wanted to be angry, yes... but he just couldn't- not even this dark presence over him could make him truly feel angry, because of how much he still loved Ann.
"Don't be like that, boy... we will get her to be ours!" Michael sighed.
"How? Does it involve messing with her mind and scaring her even more? Because if it does, I'm out..."
"Well..."
The conversation was interrupted by the instructor walking up to the front, and making an announcement.
"Good morning, cadets. Welcome to another year for those who have been in this class before, and welcome to our first-years. I have a few announcements before we get started..."
"Blah, blah..." The voice mocked the instructor, only to stop when the instructor said something that caught it's attention.
"The Military Ball will be this weekend, we are having it earlier this year so the first-years can get an early taste of what it's like..."
"Perfect..." The voice said, catching Michael's attention once more.
"Hmm?"
"It's perfect, I have a plan now..."
"Care to explain?"
"Later, boy!" Michael sighed again, he just wished he would have total control of himself again- but he couldn't make the voice leave, because he didn't know how to.
