-CHAPTER NINE-
HEAVEN IS MISSING AN ANGEL
Ann dragged Zach to the student parking lot, and let go of him when they got to his car.
"Ann, seriously... I know you have a hunch and everything, but why did you bring me to my car?"
"Did you fix your car, Zach?"
"Yeah, before the fight I had with Michael last night... why?"
"I want you to drive me to the police station, Zach..."
"The police station? Ann! What on earth..."
Ann looked at Zach with a serious look on her face.
"Zach, you know that newspaper I was reading?"
"The one that you were so drawn into? Yeah, why?"
"I read an article in it, about this boy that was murdered here..."
"Yeah, I know about that... it happened fifteen and a half years ago..."
"I knew about it too. But, it said something about how it wasn't the same around here, even just after a couple of days after it happened... it was just dark, and evil..."
"Where are you going with this, Ann?"
"I don't know why, but I have this feeling... this feeling that, whatever is wrong with Michael, that old crime has something to do with it. I just can't explain it, Zach..."
Zach looked confused, matching the same look that was also on Ann's face.
"It could just be a gut feeling..."
"I feel as though it's more than that... let's just go, Zach... I need to find out more about this dark crime, and get some answers... for Michael..."
Zach could only smile at Ann.
"Alright, Ann..."
They both got in his car, driving off towards the police station, not knowing what was in store for them when they got there...
---
"I know that you don't let just anyone look at police records, but..."
"Here you go, there's the file you asked for, Miss..."
Ann, and Zach, were both taken by surprise.
"Um, thanks... but, why give it away just like that?"
"It's an old crime, it's been solved too... we don't have much use for it, so why not?"
"Well, alright then..."
"We do need it back, though..."
"Okay, thanks again... we'll get it back to you, we're just going to look through it real quick anyways..."
"Okay, knock yourselves out..."
The policeman walked off, leaving Ann and Zach with the file in the front lobby of the police station.
"That was surprising, I definitely didn't see that coming. I thought that we were going to have a battle on our hands..." Ann said, opening up the old manilla folder.
"Wow, there's not that much in here... no wonder they didn't care to show it to us." Zach said, peering over one of Ann's shoulders at the file.
"Yeah..."
There picture of a young girl with red hair and light brown eyes that caught Ann's attention, though.
"Rhea Stanford... that's the girl that was mentioned in that article..."
