-CHAPTER TEN-
DON'T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME
The next two days seemed to drag on, as Ann and Zach carried the weight of a near impossible task on their shoulders- helping Michael free himself of Daniel's control. But, Michael was nowhere to be seen both days- it was like he had disappeared from the face of the Earth.
"I'm getting really worried about him, Zach... I haven't seen him at all these past two days, what if something happened to him?" Ann called from her bathroom as she got ready for the Military Ball.
"Ann, I'm sure he's fine... and I have a feeling that he's going to be there tonight, and it's not going to be pretty with this Daniel messing with his head..."
Zach was sitting on Ann's bed, waiting for her. He had his uniform on, with his cords and everything. His black hair was slicked back, and his blue eyes sparkled at the thought of seeing Ann in her dress.
"That's what I was afraid of, Daniel's going to go all out tonight... and I'm scared that Michael might get hurt, or worse..."
Behind the closed door of the bathroom, Zach couldn't see the tears that were starting to form in Ann's teal eyes.
"Let's just hope that doesn't happen, and that he'll be alright after all of this is over..."
Ann looked at herself in the mirror, just as a tear rolled down her freshly-blushed face.
"I sure hope so, Zach... God, how I hope so..."
Ann wiped the tears from her face, and made sure she didn't look like she had crying.
Her heart was broken at just the thought of something happening to Michael, so she couldn't imagine what she would do if something were to actually happen to him.
She could see him dying in front of her, and she shook the image of his lifeless body from her mind.
Ann fixed her running makeup, and looked herself over once again.
She imagined Zach's reaction, but she also imagined how Michael would react if he was the one sitting out there waiting for her.
The very thought made her feel sadness all over again.
"I just want the Michael I fell in love with to be back..."
Ann was startled, by a knock on the bathroom door.
"Ann? You alright?"
Ann walked out, and she could see Zach's eyes light up upon the sight of her. His blue eyes seemed to be a shade brighter, like he was a little boy in love for the first time.
"Ann, you look beautiful..." Zach said, trying not stare too much.
Ann had her dark mahogany locks pinned-up in a bun with a diamond-embellished pin, with some of her hair falling in her face. Her face was glowing, and her eye makeup seemed to make her teal eyes pop, and her lips were a pretty shade of red. Her dress fitted close to her body at the top, and seemed to flow freely where it was tied back with a bow at her waist, cascading down to her knees. She had on a pair of black heels and black gloves to match, and to top it all off, she had on a pair of black earrings, and she had a black heart necklace on that laid against her lightly-scented skin.
"Thanks, Zach..."
Zach could tell that Ann was bothered by something, and he knew what it was.
"Ann, Michael's going to be fine..."
Zach brought her in for a hug, then let her go.
Ann walked over to her bedside table, and opened up the top drawer. She took out the picture of Michael and her that she had placed in there a few days earlier, and just stared at it as she continued to speak to Zach.
