Part One Summary

Rhea and her lover Daniel are sitting in the courtyard one spring night, and Daniel is wrongly murdered by Rhea's ex, who disappears into the shadows. The first chapter starts of with Ann arriving back at the school for the new school year, and she runs into her ex Michael, who still has feelings for her. Ann then meets back up again with an old high school friend of hers, Zach. They hit it off, and Michael doesn't know how to take it. Michael then kisses Ann, making her confused as to whether they still have something between them. Ann goes to bed that night, with troubling thoughts on her mind. She then has a dream which is a flashback to when Michael and her had sex together, back when they both lost their virginites to each other. She wakes up in a sweat, and contemplates whether to call Michael or not, and she decides not to. Ann runs into Zach again the next morning as she was running from the track out of Michael's sight, and Michael arrives and puts his arm around Ann, thinking that they still have something. Ann says otherwise, and Michael sulks away with a broken heart. Zach asks Ann out on a date, and she accepts. Michael overhears, and goes back to his room and throws his pillow out of anger, knocking over a picture in the process. It was a picture of Ann and him, and he falls asleep holding the picture close to his heart. Ann then has a nightmare of Michael turning evil, and leaves a note for him on his door stating that moving on would be for his own good, stating that if he continued he could possible hurt her. Michael goes to the courtyard, where the dark spirit of Daniel takes over him. When Zach and Ann get back from their date, he is waiting in the shadows. He blows out the engine to Zach's car, which causes Ann and Zach to part ways for the night. Ann walks off on her own, and Michael ends up dragging her in between two buildings, where his dark possessor tries to make him rape her. Zach comes and knocks Michael out for a few minutes, and he takes Ann back to her room, seeing as she is in shock. Michael meets his dark possessor in his mind, and wakes back up with the possessor back in control of him. Zach is standing there and then they begin to fight, and Michael ends up knocking Zach out cold with an electric surge through his body. Michael then goes to Ann's room and stands outside looking in, the dark powers of his possessor causing Ann to have a horrible nightmare that ends with Michael raping her in the empty corridors of the school. Ann wakes up, and Michael sees the effects the nightmare had on her, and is given back control over himself. Before Michael could even think about what to do, Zach stumbles into view, causing Michael to ran away into the night. Zach hears Ann crying, and comforts her as they learn about the strange behavior of Michael. They decided to help him, and they fall asleep in each others arms, Michael looking on as the dark possessor tries to gain control over him again. The next day in their ROTC class, they learn that there is going to be a Military Ball. Michael's dark possessor makes a plan, and Michael is unaware of what it is. Michael tries to get Ann and Zach's help, which only makes his possessor angry. It then completely takes over Michael. Ann and Zach then find out what is wrong with Michael, from Rhea's best friend, who takes care of Rhea and Daniel's son, since Daniel was murdered before he even found out about him, and Rhea had died giving birth to him. They also learn that Rhea was almost killed by her ex by trying to burn her alive in her dorm room, which turns out the be the same one Ann is in now. Soon a few days pass, and it's time for the Military Ball. Ann and Zach haven't seen Michael over the past couple of days, and Ann becomes worried about him. They head to the Military Ball, where Michael tricks Ann into going up to the roof with him as Zach went to get drinks. Zach finds out and runs to Ann's rescue, and a battle ensues between Michael and him, then one between Michael and Daniel, his dark possessor. Rain, thunder, and lightning signal the events, and Ann is knocked out shortly by a strike of lightning. Michael wins the battle, his love for Ann beating Daniel's control. Michael runs over to Ann and she wakes up, giving him a kiss. They feel awkward and blush at each other over it, but they go back to being friends like they were before it all happened. The first part ends with Michael and Ann sharing a slow dance together, and then with Ann and Zach sharing a slow dance together as well as Michael dances with a lonely girl that was standing by herself. They dance the night away, into the calm Virginia night...

Part Two Description

With the events of the Military Ball behind them, Ann, Michael, and Zach think that everything is over and that there will be nothing to worry about anymore. They couldn't be more wrong, since one drunken mistake could change everything... and Daniel makes another appearance, involving himself in the trio's business- causing even more trouble. How will Ann, Michael, and Zach deal with this new set of problems set in their paths? Well, part two will tell you all about it...
