-CHAPTER THREE-
FIRST ENCOUNTERS
*Ann looked at herself in the mirror, and sighed. She smoothed her knee-length black dress against her small body, then she lightly touched her freckled-skin. Ann looked pale in the light of the room, but there was a tinge of color on her face that wasn't the cause of the makeup that she had just recently applied to her face. No, this red color was because of something different- it was because she had a date tonight, with someone other than Michael. Noticing that she was neglecting her lips of color, she grabbed her red lipstick and applied it smoothly against her already soft lips. Her lips now matched the red color on her face, and she smiled slightly.
Ann then picked up her hairbrush and ran it through her thick, dark mahogany curls all the way down to where they stopped a little past her shoulders. Looking in the mirror once again, Ann was satisfied with how she looked. As a last touch, she grabbed a bottle of perfume and lightly sprayed it a few times, feeling the cool little droplets sink into her skin.
Ann left the bathroom after, shutting the light off as she left. She grabbed her little black purse that had been sitting on her bed, and lightly hung it on one of shoulders. Ann then began to walk towards her door, but stopped just as she was about to turn the knob. She stood there, and let out a deep breath that she felt she had been holding in forever, before she turned the knob and stepped out into the cold Virginia night.
Ann could see the black outline of the nearby mountains, and she took in the sight as she shut and locked her door behind her. The moon cast a ray of light on the side of the buildings, and the air felt ominous as she made her way to the college's courtyard.
The courtyard was beautiful at night, the flowers had not yet disappeared from sight.
Ann walked closer, and she could see the figure of a boy standing in the middle of it all- with his back turned in her direction. Ann walked up to him, and lightly tapped him on one of his shoulders.
"Close your eyes, Ann..." The voice spoke in such a sweet harmony that her ears loved to hear, so Ann closed her eyes. She felt a pair of strong arms wrap around her waist, and she felt another pair of lips on hers soon after.
Ann felt them soon part from her, and she slowly opened her teal eyes, expecting to see Zach standing there. She gasped, when she saw that it was not Zach standing there- but it was Michael, and something just didn't seem right about him.
His eyes glowed a bloody-red hue in the moon's light instead of their usual chocolate brown, and his dark auburn hair was more spiked than usual. The freckles on his face danced as his smile soon turned into a devilish grin, and he took Ann by one of her arms and yanked her towards him. He whispered something in one of her ears, and the sweet sounding voice was replaced with a harsher-toned one that Ann knew wasn't Michael's at all.
"You're mine..." Michael brought Ann face-to-face with him, and she felt fear ravage through her entire body as he seemed to grip her arm harder- to the point that it was starting to hurt her.
"Ann, I love you..." Ann then began to feel a heat go through Michael's hand, and she felt like an electric-shock was going through her whole body. She felt like she was going to blackout, and soon fell to the ground as Michael let her go.
The last thing Ann saw were those bloody-red eyes staring down at her- and the last thing she heard, was a blood-curdaling laugh that scared her more than anything had before in her entire life...*
---
Ann woke up to the sound of her alarm going off, but she laid too stiff and frightened to shut it off. So she laid there and looked at the ceiling, slowly realizing that she had just experienced the nightmare to end all nightmares. Ann slowly sat up and shut off her alarm finally after a bit, and she felt her clothes stick to her skin from sweating. She ran her hand across her forehead, then looked at it to see drops of sweat starting to roll down her fingers.
