Chapter 23 (Continued)
Better than Revenge (Part II)
Zara's POV
The play had begun. I had made my entrance as Juliet and already danced with Olly as my Romeo. Dreams do come true at times.
The Balcony scene was also over and it went fabulous. The audience loved it.
Right now Olly was on stage, fighting my cousin, whom he would later kill by chance and get jailed. As the play progressed, I felt happier and more confident. We had raised much more money than expected and had donated it all to the organization.
The theatre was jam-packed.
The audience was in clear awe.
We were all buzzing with excitement.
If you took all our excitement and put it all in a lake,it would spill over. Literally!Seri seemed more excited about our plan though.
We had planned to act during our after-party that Mr. Gay had kept for all of us, as a treat, at a local eating joint.
I planned to have a nice conversation with her in private, however Seri was to make sure that all that she said was heard by everybody. All I had to do was call Seri during the conversation and she would put me on the speaker. As the play ended, and the whole cast went onstage to take our bow, Olly sweeped me into his arms and gave me a kiss.
I could feel butterflies in my stomach and my Mom's eyes on me. And probably Hannah's too, but then right as that thought struck me, like lightning, I pulled away and said as loudly as I could, "Olly, the play's over, you can drop the pretense.", so that Hannah could hear me.I turned around and left quickly, but gave Oliver a apologetic look before I left, to which he blew me a kiss. Tummy flips are such mind boggling things I swear.
Seri and I hurried over to my place to go get dressed for the after party. We planned to meet the guys a block away from the place we were to supposed to go for the party, so that we could go over the plan once.
When we reached my house, it was seven by the watch. We had exactly one hour to prep ourselves.
Thanks to the amazing job that our friend and buzzing make-up artist, Sammy had done to our hair and make-up, we did not have much to do.
Seri decided she needed to use the bathroom all by herself and I could fix myself up in my room with my closet mirror. Best friends could be such a pain in the neck, I thought.
I took out a pair of ash grey dress pants and a shirt with lace in the sleeves and collar. The shirt was in satin and silver in colour. I looked a bit too formal, but I was too lazy to hunt for new clothes so I simply messed up my hair a bit and put it up in a messy side-chignon and added a dash of bright pink to my lips.
After finding my favourite pair of silver belle wedges, I settled on my bed and checked my phone for any messages.
Any messages from Olly to be particular. There was one from him and two from some unknown number.
Quite obviously I opened his first.
'Hey gorgeous, I'll pick you and Seri from your place at 7:35. Josh will meet us there at 7:45.
Looking forward to how much more beautiful you can look like.
Love you.'I sat there grinning as I read through it. I sent him an okay with too many kisses and opened the other two messages.
'You know you need to keep away from Olly? He is mine. Remember that. Will always be. Back off b*tch.'
'How dare you kiss him? He is mine. I warn you for the last time!'
Both of them were from Hannah. I didn't even have to read the name that she had added at the end of the second message to know that it's her.
I felt like saying he kissed me, I didn't, but that would be against the plan so I decided to go mean, but not give us away.
'He was mine earlier. You can use my old stuff. Recycle you know?'
I hit sent and that m's when Seri walked out in her navy blue dress. It was knee length and looked quite pretty with its full sleeves but sweetheart neckline. However, the back was the killer, the back was all open till her lower waist. Josh was going to drool for sure.
We had managed to grab the dress at Topshop's sale.
She fixed her hair a bit and touched up her gloss and we were ready to go.
It was exactly at 7:35 that Olly was at the door. Mom opened the door as I got down the stairs, followed by Seri.
Mom had come back home half an hour after us. She had some grocery shopping to do, she said.
As I reached the landing, Mom turned towards me and said "I am so happy for you both."
A mom isn't supposed to say all this. So embarassing. I could see Olly's ears turn red, as they always did when he was embarassed, while my cheeks burnt red hot.
I walked up to Mom, gave her a peck on the cheek and whispered "Mom! later!"
Then I dragged Seri by the hand and pushed Olly out and we left.We met Josh ten minutes later as decided.
Josh had got some wires to change the audio settings and connect it to my phone. He made me download some sound app which would put the call on speaker via bluetooth. We went over the plan one last time and then we all left for the party.
The restaurant was a Japanese food joint. It was run by a family and had a great ambience. Mr. Gay had booked the whole place for us and the owners had cleared up a little corner to double up as a dance floor.
There was music playing as we entered and some of the cast and crew members were already there, seated, dancing or chatting each other up.We entered and took a table next to the speakers.
The place started filling up as people started pouring in.By a quarter past eight, Mr. Gay made announcements for the appetizers after shouting out three cheers for all of us.
Everybody was enjoying themselves and were beginning to settle down when I decided that now was the best time to start our plan.
I gestured to Seri that am leaving and she shot up to go tell Olly and Josh.I walked up to Hannah and pulled her aside.
Before saying anything, I discreetly gave a call to Josh who was to pick it up and put it on speaker.I dragged her outside the restaurant and thought about what all I had to say.
Afterall, there was so much that I had to say to her
