Chapter 5
Serena's POV {Her picture on the side! And she is just as pretty as I imagined! :D }
'Zara!!! Here!...Oh! Juliet!' I called out to Zara as I saw her entering the auditorium and quickly made my way towards her. After a long time, she seemed not only happy, but also excited.
I had somehow gotten used to seeing a hollow sadness in her eyes while she used to stare out into space, thinking about things she never told anyone. Not even me.
"Hie Ms. Super-excited-mother-of-mine-in-the-play! So where is everybody? I met Harry in the car park..he will be here in another 2." she gushed.
I couldn't help but giggle at her excitement that matched mine.
"Oliver is backstage with Mr. Gay trying to assemble all of us for some announcement..and well Josh is waiting up for us in the wings! We need to be onstage NOW!" I said as I pulled her along, towards the stage.
"Josh is waiting for you!" she teased and gave me a wink while I turned a deep shade of red.
Nearly everyone was on stage by the time we made it to the stage.
We took more than 30minutes to reach the stage. All thanks to the whole cast & crew of the play who wanted to congratulate Zara (and me) for bagging the role of Juliet (and her mother!).
"All of you shall maintain the decorum and sanctity of the stage and keep quiet. Starting right now 'coz I am going to announce the final list of the cast. Those of you not interested might as well leave the play this very moment!" Mr. Gay's voice boomed. For the first time, he sounded in command and not his usual weak-willed self.
We don't have anything against homosexual people, but he usually comments on people's sexuality in the craziest sense. So, calling him Mr. Gay was the best harmless way of getting back at him for behaving and commenting this way.
He read out the whole list, including the tiny roles but left out the lead roles so that he could read them out in the end for a dramatic effect.
I literally squealed with excitement when I heard my name being announced with Josh and got a death glare from Zara. But honestly I could see the amusement clearly written on her face.
The ones around us just gave me a what-on-Earth-is-wrong-with-you stare.
As Mr. Gay announced Zara's name as Juliet I could see her start beaming while others passed her congratulatory smiles. She was genuinely liked by all so the smiles were mostly admiring ones. However, I just could not help but notice how shocked and pissed Kate looked after hearing this. Seriously, how sophisticated of her.
Then Mr. Gay said something that was shocking, to say the least.
"I saw the video recordings of the auditions I took for Romeo's role and well, I must say that sadly Jared isn't really a good choice for Romeo. He is charming and fits the role. But somehow his charm is...ermm..not the right type of charm...it's like he is out to charm each and every girl around him while wooing Juliet..he...umm..lacks the essence of being devoted to Juliet..I have discussed it with Jared..and have decided that now I'll take another round of auditions for Romeo's role. All of you can audition, provided you compliment our Juliet perfectly and as, for Jared, his role will be decided once we know who will be our new Romeo. Those of you interested, get your names written with me right now, backstage, till the time the girls go through the final script with Ms. Finley..any questions?"
No one answered and I heard so many people literally whisper out "Player!" when Mr. Gay was announcing about Jared being 'way too charming' to fit the role...
Then suddenly an idea dawned upon me. Random. But it would work I know.
Definitely it would.
It just had to work!
