"So you're gonna be in the stand cheering me on, right?" Josh asked over the phone as I got ready for the gym.
"What kind of number 1 fan would I be if I wasn't?" I joked, almost falling over as I put my running shoes on.
"Good. I do better when you watch my games." Chills ran up my legs, making there way to my arms.
"It's cause I'm magic, obviously," I said, flipping off Jennifer as she stood in the doorway, making hearts with her fingers.
His laughter passed through the phone before he said, "Alright. Well I have to go, but I'll see you there."
I said my goodbyes and threw my pillow at Jennifer when she started pelvic thrusting the air."You're sick." I told her.
"Yeah, but you love it."
"That's very true." I nodded. We took our usual route to the gym, went inside to life weights and go tanning, then jogged back to the apartment. I took a nice, long shower, got dressed, and ate lunch with my cousin.
"When are you going to introduce me to Justin?" I questioned Jenn as she ate her sandwich.
"Never." I glared at her. "I'm joking. Whenever you want.""I'm glad you're starting over too," I mentioned. She and Nick had broken up recently, but we hadn't spoke about it since it happened.
"Me too."
I smiled at her with a mouthful of food and carried on with my daydreaming.
"I heard you screaming in your sleep the other night."
"What?"
"It wasn't like bloody murder, you were just holding it in." I avoided eye contact and suddenly lost my appetite. "Where you dreaming about Mike again?"
Just the sound of his name make me cringe. "Yeah. I guess I was."
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to.." I stood up from my chair and put my glass in the sink. "Maybe we should get going."
"Okay," I said, a smiling spreading across my face.
"Someone's excited to see little Joshie washie." I wasn't going to deny it. Yes, yes it was excited to see his hazel eyes and beautiful smile.- - -
We were in the stands across from the bench that Josh would be on. All of The Lights started to play and the basketball team started to run out of the hallway. We all stood and cheered, clapping and eying out favorite celebrities. Even though I tried not to, my eyes were always on Josh. One time, he caught me looking, and waved over me. I waved back at him and held up both of my thumbs, mouthing 'Good luck'. In response, he winked at me.The buzzer went off and the teams went into a huddle. When the teams jumped for the ball, Josh caught it and dribbled down the court, giving the team time to set up. I watched as the team skillfully did drills so Josh could drive to the hoop for a lay up. I cheered and felt the heat rush to my cheeks as I cheered for him. By half time the score was 34 - 37, Hollywood Knights were losing. The team ran off to the locker room, but Josh stayed and walked over to Jenn and I.
"So I guess I'm not really your good luck charm, huh?" I asked, placing my hands on my hips.
He shrugged. "I guess we'll find out. Can I get a kiss for good luck?" I smiled at him and leaned forward, pressing my lips to his soft, slightly sweaty, cheek. Josh's smile made my heart leap when I pulled away. "Thank you."
"Good luck," I said, winking at him. He jogged towards where his team went.
"Woah. Juli, you got game." I laughed and got up to go to the concession stand to get a soda.
When I got back, the two teams were warming up again. The last 30 seconds of overtime had finally came, and things were intense. Josh had just got fouled and the score was 41-41. It was silent as he went up, but the ball bounced back out of the net. He ran his fingers through his hair and looked off to the side - to me. I blew him and kiss and smiled softly. He got the ball back and concentrated on the hoop before shooting it. It made a perfect swish sound and the crowd roared with excitement. The Hollywood Knights played as much defense as they could until the buzzer went off and when it did, everyone in the stands jumped up and cheered. I hugged Jennifer and ran onto the court, waiting for Josh.
"That was awesome!" I yelled, practically jumping onto him. His arms wrapped tight around my waist.
"It was all because of you," he said, pulling away with a smirk on his lips.
"Aw, how mushy," Jenni commented, bumping me with her hip. "Nice game, Joshua."
"Aw, shucks Jennifer." He waved her off. "What are you ladies doing tonight?"
"Justin was suppose to come over and we were going to watch movies."
"That's great," he said sarcastically before turning to me. "What about you?"
I looked over at Jenn. "Nothing," I said while shrugging.
"Do you guys want to come to my party then?"
More than anything, gorgeous."That sounds like fun." I smiled, yanking Jenni's arm.
"Yeah I do! What time?"
"Starts at 9," his eyes flickered over to me and the corner of his lips tugged. "See you there."
