Chapter Seventy-Four:

So much had unexpectedly transpired since Nola left the apartment earlier that day, for lunch with Mrs. Sims. When she left, Nola had barely entertained the idea of going to see Mitch. She had happily neglected the thought and hoped lunch would occupy herself.

With that being said, Nola never expected to come back to Parker's apartment after attempting to see Mitch, realizing that she could not do it - at least not without Parker.

His name sent a jolt through her system as she questioned the possibility of being in love with. Her mind raced ninety to nothing as she considered, also, that she was scared about such feelings.

As Nola mindless entered the apartment, she could not help but consider what Mrs. Sims had told her in the car.

It was known to Nola that she was growing feelings for Parker. But, love . . . that was a playing field she had not pondered on fully.

A small but mighty bark snapped Nola from her thoughts as she closed the door behind her after entering. Shaking her head and jumping out of her thoughts, Nola looked down at her puppy who stared up at her with its golden eyes. Nola smiled as the dog wagged its tail to no end. Leaning down, Nola picked up her dog.

Looking around, Nola noticed the silence of the apartment. "Where's Parker?" She asked the puppy as if it could answer her.

The puppy wiggled in Nola's arms, begging to be released. Nola sat the puppy back down on the floor, figuring she would look around and see if Parker was home.

Walking into the kitchen Nola saw that it was just as empty as the living room and bedroom she had just checked. Her eyes caught sight, however, of a note on the fridge. Strolling over, she saw Parker's handwriting.

Gone into work to take care of some things. I took your puppy out again before leaving, she shouldn't have to go until later tonight.

Be back soon,
Parks

P.S: she really needs a name.

Sighing, Nola feared that being alone would give her space to think and that was the last thing she wanted. It occurred to her that she could just watch some Netflix and cuddle with her puppy until Parker came home.

Nola walked into the living room, sat down on the couch, and opened her mouth to call her puppy, who seemed to be hiding somewhere in the apartment. However, as soon as Nola's lips parted she realized Parker was right, she needed to come up with a name, fast.

She was thinking of names when Nola heard the sound of something in the hall. She froze in her seat as fear coursed through her. She had no idea what the noise was coming from or what it was. Her first thought was Mitch but then she quickly remembered his smirking face at the jailhouse. It dawned on Nola that it might be Camille, who was still at large.
