Chapter Four:

Nola sat down on her couch and looked at the papers in front of her. She couldn't believe she was doing this — dropping out of the school. Never in a million years did she think that she'd be doing this. No, Nola figured — her whole life — that she'd be the first person in her family to actually finish high school and go to college

Her father never finished high school, he didn't need to, for at the age of seventeen he was offered a job at some company that paid good money and demanded him to travel around the world.

As for her mother, she fell in love with her father in high school and ended up following him around the world.

They made enough money, there was no need for an education beyond what they had.

Yet, this is what Mitch wanted.

It didn't take long for Nola to fill out the papers. When she was done she sat them on the coffee table and figured she would turn them in tomorrow. Standing up, Nola tried to not think about how much pain she was in or how tired she was. Instead, she considered cleaning the living room for Mitch would be pissed if came here after work to find that the living room was still a mess.

It took Nola an hour to clean up the living room, but when she was done she couldn't help but wish she had taken small breaks while cleaning up, for now she was in incredible pain.

Sitting down on the couch, Nola figured a nap would do her good. However, she knew she couldn't sleep for very long because sooner or later she would have to go out to the store and get some ingredients for the casserole she was going to make Mitch tonight.

Nola knew this meal would please Mitch for her green bean chicken casserole was his favorite and on the plus side, she had not made it in several weeks.

Closing her eyes once she laid down, Nola drifted off to sleep.

Parker sat in his car and stared at the front door of Nola B.'s house. The address of her house was easy to obtain after he told Mrs. Peach that he wanted Nola's address to make sure she made it home safely for he was worried about her. Mrs. Peach was more than willing to hand over Nola's address, under the one condition that Parker call her and confirm to her that Nola was home safely.

He'd done that an hour ago and was now just waiting for his plan to take place.

His brown eyes would have bored a hole in the front door, if that was possible, by now. Hell, he had stared at it long enough, waiting for her to come out.

Soon his phone separated his eye contact of the door. Reaching over in his passenger seat, Parker picked up his phone. "Yellow?" He answered without bothering to look at the caller I.D. His eyes focused back on the door.

"Yellow is the color of the sun, try again," A familiar voice spoke.

 "Blue?"

"Color of the sky."

"Well, technically the sky is white and blue."

"Sometimes grey."

"Touche. So, why do I have the honor of getting a call from my mother?"

Parker heard his mother sigh on the other end of the phone, "Can I not just call my son because I wanna?"

 "I'm in school," He lied.
