Ron's POV
I woke to a large bang coming from outside of my window. I jerked awake and looked outside. My blood ran dry as I see the shop down the street emerged in flames. I run out of my room not bothering to wake up Harry and down the stairs. When I get there I see a couple of bodies laying crumpled on the floor. What do I do, I don't have a phone? I looked at the burning building and then at the bodies on the floor. My breath caught in my throat as I see a familiarity in one of the bodies. No, it can't be. I forced myself to walk over there and as I advanced towards the person I became more and more convinced. I looked down to see Hermione. I lost control of the world around me, all I cared about is her.
"Hermione." I bent down and checked to see if she has a pulse. Nothing.
"No, no, no." I repeated to my self as I started chest compressions, something I saw on muggle TV. Nothing.
"Hey, baby. Come on, wake up." I told her, resting her head on my lap as I sat down on the cold, hard floor. I got out my wand and performed some spells but nothing got her to open her eyes. I tried chest compressions again as sirens started to sound in the distance. I pressed my ear to her chest again and that's when I heard it, a pulse; a faint one, yet still a pulse. I released a relieved sigh and stroked the stray hairs from her face. A scream from the burning building made my head snap up and I realised that there was still someone in there. I looked down at Hermione, torn between the love of my life and just some stranger but I made up my mind and gave Hermione a passionate kiss before lying her head gently down and making my way towards the burning building.
"Hello?!" I shouted over the sound of the licking flames. I was answered with silence. I stepped over a fallen bit of wood and entered the pool of smoke. The smoke soon filled my lungs and I broke out into a fit of coughs. I followed the shouts and tried to cover my eyes as much as possible to prevent everything from going into my eyes. I could barely see anything, just broken panels and bright orange flames. The screams soon died down and I knew that I needed to get there faster.
"Hello?!" I yelled again. "Keep shouting for me okay?!" My calls seemed to be absorbed by the racket of the flames and the parts of the building crashing down. I continued my way into the building, trying not to notice the drastic rise in temperature. I heard one last call from the stranger which seemed to come from below. I looked down to see a woman on the floor with a wooden pane across her stomach. I crouched down so I was closer to her level.
"I'm going to get you out of here okay?" I reassured her before attempting to lift the price of wood off her. She seemed to be in and out of consciousness so she gave a hum that I just about managed to hear. I coughed again, the smoke becoming unbearable. I couldn't seem to lift the bit of wood off her; it was too heavy. I looked at her face and she had her eyes closed, more than likely unconscious. I took a chance in very desperate measures; I took out my wand and used a spell that I knew very well.
"Wingardium leviosa." With a flick of my wand, the wood started to levitate and lift off the woman. I then used some spells to dampen the threatening flames. I lifted the woman up, who groaned as her eyelids flicked shut and then open. I dragged her through the same path I had come through and soon we were out of there. I gasped at the clean air that I never thought I would be so thankful for. As soon as I came out I was greeted by fire officers who lifted the woman out of my hands and carried her over to the ambulances.
"Is there anyone else in there?" One asked me and I shook my head.
"I don't think so, I wasn't in the store when it happened I was -" I suddenly remembered why was there and raced over to the empty spot where Hermione used to lay. I rushed over to the closest paramedic.
"What happened to the girl who was laying there?" I demanded.
"Oh I think she was taken to the hospital." The paramedic said through a thick French accent.
"Which hospital?"
"We're driving there now, do you want a lift?" The woman offered. Deciding it was the quickest way, I nodded and quickly got in.
