OPENING SCENE
Kate paces around her room with Jamie standing with her arms folded.
JAMIE: Okay. Everyone uses Polaroid cameras.
KATE: No, I'm sure of it.
JAMIE: He was here?
KATE: I think. Fiona came down and said he was. And then...
Kate stops.
JAMIE: Then what?
KATE: Eric was in Fiona's class. He's older than Madison.
JAMIE: And Ava?
KATE: Yeah. I'm only 2 years younger. Madison was 19.
JAMIE: Okay, so what does that matter?
KATE: It doesn't. Point is, they were in the same class. They were close.
JAMIE: And?
KATE: All of a sudden, they stopped talking to him. They kept close at the beginning of college. Two years ago, they tell me to pretend he's dead.
JAMIE: And then Madison started dating him...
Jamie's mind wanders off.
KATE: Yeah.
JAMIE: How do you think she ended up dead?
KATE: Eric. I don't know why, but Fiona's terrified of him.
Kate gives Jamie a worried look.
END SCENE
Jamie unlocks her front door. Stella rushes over and hugs her.
STELLA: I'm sorry.
JAMIE: It's okay. You actually might have helped.
STELLA: How?
Jamie puts her bag down on the couch.
JAMIE: I got some intel from Kate Hawking.
STELLA: Spill.
JAMIE: Fiona and Eric were best friends in high school. Kate told me that two years ago, her and her friend Ava just stopped talking to him. Pretended like he was dead.
STELLA: And Madison didn't?
JAMIE: Madison is a lot younger than him. Kate thinks Eric did it. Apparently Fiona's like afraid of him.
Avery walks in from the kitchen.
AVERY: Afraid of who?
STELLA: Eric Mendes.
AVERY: What?
JAMIE: Kate thinks he killed Madison.
AVERY: Eric? I... I don't know.
Jamie stops, confused.
JAMIE: Why?
Avery moves her mouth but doesn't know what to say.
JAMIE: Where were you last night?
Stella looks away in awkwardness. Avery fidgets with her ear.
AVERY: I was... I was at the Mendes house.
JAMIE: Avery!
AVERY: What?
JAMIE: What happened to not picking sides?
AVERY: Um, hello! You just had a slumber party at murder mansion.
JAMIE: Okay, fine, point taken.
