"Gloria isn't going to open the door until we're both changed," muttered Kane, "God I hate her,"

His voice was so filled with loathing that I felt myself shiver. Like when we were outside the academy, the pure fear that had ran through my veins.

"She seems to like you," I pointed out, laughing awkwardly, trying to ignore the disgusting feeling in my stomach.

He didn't laugh back.

"How would she know anyway?" I pointed out, "She can't exactly just... know."

"...She just would. You'll figure everything out when you're sorted,"

There is was again. The 'You'll figure everything out when you're sorted' routine. He sounded like a broken record, no matter how cliched that was.

"Hmm,"

"Well, better get changed," said Kane. We stood staring at each other for a few awkward minutes.

"I'll go first," we both said. I laughed, Kane nodded.

"It's ok, I'll change then you can," he said, "Just don't look or anything,"

I nodded, closing my eyes and blushing. I turned my back to him so he felt more secure. I hoped he did the same. I also bit back a smile, which was trying very hard to find its way onto my mouth.

"You can get dressed now," Kane said. I nodded, opening my eyes and looking over at him.

"She did a pretty half-ass job, right?"

I nodded. The thing looked like it had been done in five minutes by maybe a small child or someone who was either blind or very close to it. The sleeves were both wonky and ill-fitted, while the torso was way too long; it fell down to just above his knees. His pant legs were... extremely and obviously uneven. And there were many obvious ill-stitched areas.

"I'll get one of the other prefects to fix it for me,"

"Ok, I really better get changed now," I laughed awkwardly. He nodded and closed his eyes without turning around. I breathed calmly. It wasn't like he was going to peek, so far talking to Kane the way I had (even though it had been mostly dismissive chat), it had been easy to pick up the fact that he was some-what of a gentleman.

I hoped I was right, although a gnawing little voice in the back of my head screamed how much it wanted my assumptions to be completely and utterly wrong. I pulled off my shirt, folding it up neatly and putting it on the ground. Then I picked up my new school shirt, savoring its silky texture, and slid it over my head.

Then I untied my shoe laces, took them off and then unzipped my jeans. They fell to the floor and I stepped out of them, stepping into my skirt. I pulled my skirt up and glanced at myself in the mirror. I laughed out loud when I looked back at myself, it felt so weird. Being in a new uniform, and now I felt like I really belonged at Madame G's.

"You look... really, really nice," said Kane.

"Thanks," I grinned, turning around and curtsying. He nodded, and pulled a pair of shoes out of no where. They were a standard pair of black school shoes, and they were my exact size.

"I hope they fit," he said.

"Yeah they're actually my size, fancy that," I laughed. I bent down and slipped the shoes onto my sock-less feet. Then I picked up my old clothes and shoes and looked at him expectantly. Kane opened the door and I was exposed to the swarm of the Dressing Rooms.

"So Jack will look after you now," said Kane, pointing me towards Jack who was talking to a girl with the most amazing pink hair.
