"So when did you start here?" I asked Kane as we walked up the tall marble staircase leading from the Main Hall. Already my legs were tired from the steep, large steps.
"I was a first year here, like most," he said, not even panting at the colossal stairs. "Then Jack came after me, he's a year younger,"
I nodded, feeling my legs strain as we continued up the mountainous stairs.
"So when I'm being sorted, I'll be the oldest?" I asked, nervously blushing. I felt so unfit puffing up the stairs when Kane and the other students around me were practically gliding.
"No, there will be one or two other transfer students. There will definitely be... well there will be others," something in the way that Kane had said that.. it made me shiver. I have no idea why though..
"Uhm, ok," I laughed uneasily.
"Don't be scared," he said, slowing to let me catch up, then looking me in the eye, "You'll figure out everything tonight, and... and then you won't be scared,"
I hated when he looked me in the eye, it was like he was in my brain, looking at all my thoughts and analyzing me. Finally the staircase ended, but I didn't notice, because Kane was still looking at me and I felt so entranced.
So entranced I didn't look in front of me, and I felt the hard blow to my chest all too late.
I knew I was about to fall. My feet teetered for a second, before I knew I was falling.
"Ahh!" I screamed, clinging to the nearest thing possible, being someones hair. My eyes were closed shut, in effort to focus all my energy on keeping hold to who ever had the misfortune to run into me.
"Bloody hell, let go!" I felt a hand tugged at mine. I let go, hoping the person would grab me. I felt the cold fingers catch my arm and haul me up from the edge of the stairs. My eyes sprang open.
"Watch where you're going next time you two," snapped Kane, wringing his hands. "What if she'd gotten seriously injured?"
"Ooh sorry Kane," the first boy, the one that had spoken, stood at a height just a bit below Kane.
He was very pretty, with golden brown hair that was slightly curly, and brown eyes flecked with blues and greens. His mouth as pulled into a tight lipped smile as he brushed his hair back to its original perfect form. With long eyelashes curling upwards and a killer body, I guessed he must be fairly popular.
The boy next to him wasn't as attractive. His eyes were smaller, more closer to each other, squeezing a nose that was very small and dainty. But didn't suit him. He had a goofy smile though, and silky-looking brown hair that fell around his head with pure perfection.
"Detention for you Kraemer, attitude on the first day back will not pay kindly," tutted Kane, pulling out a thick book and pen, scrawling something down and ripping the page out of the book in a flourish.
"Uhm Kane, don't. Really. I should have been watching out for people," I said, grabbing the slip from his grasp. The blonde boy raised an eyebrow, smirking in an almost seductive manner.
"He's filth Laurie, he needs the slip anyway," Kane said, motioning for me to give him the slip. I knew Kane was a lot stronger then I was, so I knew that I'd have to argue to get my way.
"Hello, standing right here Kane," scoffed the blonde boy. He was cocky, it was obvious, by the way he smiled, the way he flicked his hair, the way he spoke.
"And you don't wanna bad mouth someone when they're standing right in front of you!" cried the brown haired boy, smiling an extremely goofy smile. He was cute, I give him that, and obviously possessed a sense of humour.
