Chapter 14: Darling You'll Be Okay

She sits up high surrounded by the sun 

One million branches and she loves everyone

"Mom and dad, did you even search for me?

I've been up here so long i'm going crazy!"

The voice of Vic fills my ears as the tears continue to fall down my face. I don't know what time it is by now and I don't even car enough to unlock my phone which is on airplane mode so no one can get a hold of me. I know he's probably freaking out that my phone is off and he can't get a hold of me, I probably could have handled this better but this is just what I do, I run and push people away. 

If I were you, I'd put that away 

See, you're just wasted 

And thinking 'bout the past again

Darling you'll be okay 

And she said, 

"If you were me, you'd do the same

'Cause I can't take anymore

I'll draw the shades and close the door

Everything's not alright and I would rather...."

I sing along with Vic and Lindsey as I turn my car back on and pull back on to the road but only this time going the other direction, back home. I look at the clock on the stereo it's 3:15 AM which gives me hope that maybe he won't be trying to find me anymore, maybe just maybe the boys and Steph made him go home and get some sleep. The music continues to play but I don't pay attention as my thoughts take over. 

He's not going to stay, he's going to listen to his fans. He will realize what he say in you was never there. He's going to realize I am just a freak as his fans put it, and then nothing will be in my way anymore to stop me. 

I pull into the underground parking lot of the residence that live in these condos and click the clicker that makes me gate open and head in and park in my empty space. I get out and lock the car and head to the door to the elevator. I swipe the key that's needed to get into the building and walk over to the elevator and push up. I get in and push my floor and wait for it to get there. As it dings and opens I stick my head out of the elevator and look up and down the hall way to find its clear, no sign of Ashton or any of them. I walk to my door and notice a note stuck in between my door, i grab it and unlock my door . I set my keys and the note on the table near the door and walk to my room to undress. I put on Ashton's shirt that I find at the end of my bed from when he stayed over. I grab my blanket and a pillow and head to the rather large window seal and sit wrapped up looking a the sleeping city that will soon come alive again. 

  "Take it in Peyton, cause soon you won't be here anymore" I say out loud to myself as i unwrap the hand with my phone it from underneath the blanket and unlock it before pushing play on one of my favorite songs. 

I never thought I'd die alone

I laughed the loudest who'd have known?

I traced the cord back to the wall 

No wonder it was never plugged in at all 

I took my time, I hurried up 

The choice was mine I didn't think enough 

I'm too depressed to go on

You'll be sorry when I'm gone

I sing softly along with the band that I love so much as I watch the town around me begin to come alive as I slowly drift into a land full of dreams and things I don't want to see.
