A stranger who stole my heart

Chapter 18

Vin and I entered the restaurant and the bell by the door announced our precense with a ding. We found Jules sitting on the empty table by the window. She was staring out of the window and only God knows what she was thinking. We walked towards the table and only when we pull out our chairs, she realised that she's not the sole animal on this beautiful earth. She offered a weak smile to us and before I could say something to ease out the tension, our hostess was at the table with menu cards in her hands and a big smile. I noticed that even after we were done looking at the menu cards she was still intently staring at Vin.
I slammed my menu card hard on our table to let her know that we were done looking at the menu cards and were ready to order. Well that was my excuse to pry her hungry pathetic eyes off my boyfriend. She literally jumped out of fear at that sound and at that very moment me and Jules looked at each other and laughed our ass off while communicating with each other using our best friend antennae.
After the embarrassment our hostess had to survive she switched tables with some really cute guy. He came to our table to finally take our orders and left with a wink in Jules direction. Jules gave a small frown while watching his retreating figure and later with a deep sigh busied herself typing furiously on her cellphone. Vin looked at me with a confused look on his face. Can't blame the poor soul! We decided to ignore the incidence and move on. Vin placed a gentle kiss on my forehead and looked in Jules direction thinking of a topic to start some kind of conversation.

I took the opportunity to help him and said " Vin you know Jules likes to read just like me" I looked at her and said " Jules you remember the first time we met!"

We shared a look and started laughing. Vin got even more confused and asked " hey you know even I'm here and I don't know what thIs is all about! So you guys better fill me in"

Jules replied this time still smiling at that memory of the first time we met.
" Vincent we met in the library in 4th grade. I went to the library to issue a book for me to read. I went to the book shelf and when I found the book I tried taking it out from the rack but it won't come out. So I tried pulling harder! Still nothing! And the next thing I know, the whole shelf starts falling on me!"

I said " hey! It's not my mistake that I'm stronger than you!". Jules said " yeah tell yourself that! Like you didn't push it purposely on me coz I won't let you take that book."
I said " Hey! I found that book first, so obviously I should have it but it won't come out!" Jules replied " Pssh! And because of that I got the first and only detention of my life and also not to forget a very angry librarian who made me do all the filing of books alphabetically alone because she thought I did that purposely and this bitch here ran away before anyone could find out that it was her and not me!"
"But I came to help you with the filing so you can't say you were alone ohk! Coz I helped"
Jules " Help! You left me buried under that rack and all the books that came with it"
"But Jules I apologised to you after that during lunch and also gave you my favourite fruit loops to make up for it"
Jules said " And that's the only reason I'm your best friend"
Vin said" which means you both wanted the same book to read and you accidentally knocked the shelf and all the books with it? And Pam seriously you left her like that and ran away! You have a habit of messing things up and running away! No wonder I always thought your not the innocent poor soul everyone thinks you are"
Jules " you've hit the bullseye! After we became friends during lunch, you know what this crazy cow did to the librarian for punishing me?"
Vin " I have no clue what your talking about? Please my lady would you enlighten this poor soul?"
Jules let's out a laugh and says " Thank you dear sir I may!"
I interrupt " Hey don't tell him yet! I haven't played that prank on with him yet!"
Jules says " oh suck it up! One less prank won't make a difference. You have plenty of them. So where was I? Oh yes, this woman, she put a gallop of glue on her chair just before she could sit and don't ask me how she managed it. And the best part was that she put the glue when the library had many students who wanted to get their books issued. She was so busy that she didn't have time to get up and the glue had enough time to dry!"
Vin looks at me laughing and while pressing a kiss to the side of my head says " You are a monster disguised as an innocent puppy."
Pam "and you know the best part was that when she tried to get up was the time when the bell for lunch rang and she had no where to go without letting everyone know what happened! The whole school was out in the corridor and washrooms"
Jules "Oh lord! The good old time!"
That is how we spent our lunch. Just talking and laughing at all our antics and childhood memories.
