Diamond Light (Slowly being edited)

Chapter 45

  The meeting is going smoothly until one of the elves run into the forest only to return shortly pulling Benny and Cyrus over by the backs of their shirts. "Guys why are you both out here?" I ask as Hero convinces the elf who still has a grip on their shirts to let go. "We came looking for you and Hero when you guys didn't come back." Benny replies as he and Cyrus join me and Hero. The meeting continues as planned, the group telling us what they know about Joseph while Silver runs around Cyrus. Just as the meeting ends and my little group starts to leave, the sound of someone crashing through the brush from the opposite side of the pond is heard. "Oi, stay there!!" The voice of Jonathan yells at us. "Book it!" Hero says, picking Silver up and runs. Benny and Cyrus run ahead as we make it out of the forest. We make it to my house, slamming the door behind Hero once he gets inside with Silver. We spend a little bit of time explaining what happened to the rest of the group before Mark goes back to making dinner for the group. 

"Why does this always happen to us?" Benny groans after we are all accounted for. Silver runs through the living room chasing after Cyrus. Emma, Sierra, and Ender pull me aside after dinner to an empty room down the hall from the living room. "Guys what's the matter? Y'all are acting weird." I say, eyeing the three warily. Emma moves to stand in front of the door to make sure none of the others come in for what ever is going on. "Coming with us?" Ender asks after getting Sierra to go stand with Emma. "What? Where to and why?" I ask, looking confused at her. Ender looks back at Emma and Sierra, who only shrug in response to this. 

We start to walk to the door when someone knocks at the front door, causing everyone to fall silent, Silver running in and grabbing my hand. Mark walks over to the door and slips out to see who knocked before any of us could decide who should check. Our little group stays put in the living room in silence for a good time, watching and waiting for what might happen the minute Mark walks in the front door.  As we wait, Silver runs off in the direction of the basement out of presumed boredom. Mark comes back inside with handsome young man about my age I recognize from when I was younger trailing behind him not too long after Silver took off. "Welcome back Mark. Who's this?" Hero asks, suspicious of the new comer.  The young man, who seems familiar, backs into a corner slightly under Hero's gaze. I catch his eye and wave, getting a wave back in response.

"This is Reggie. He's Benny and Cyrus's older brother. Reggie come out if the corner, we're all friends here." Mark says to Reggie. Once Reggie is in better lighting, the family resemblance between him and his brothers is more evident. But one thing about him was nagging me. "Nice to meet you Reggie. One question though, why do you look like a normal human and not like a ender hybrid like Benny and Cyrus?" I ask once everyone else sad there greeting, Hero still staring Reggie down. Reggie smiles, obviously still uncomfortable with Hero doing what he's doing. 

"It's due to having figured out I can cause the part of me that's ender take on the appearance of the rest of my skin. Same with my eyes." Reggie says, showing off his eye changing to the color of an ender's and back to green. We launch into what's happened so far once Benny and Cyrus came back in from getting drinks, Reggie explaining how he found us. Emma starts to ask if the lot of us would like to come over to her place for dinner when Silver comes running out of the basement with a love potion she somehow got out of the locked chest. "Silver careful with tha-" Benny is unable to finish his sentence as Silver trips, the bottle breaking and the contents landing on me and Reggie. "Oh come on!" I yell, doing my best to resist the potion's effects. Reggie is doing his best but soon, everything goes fuzzy. 

Everything is fuzzy and, due to the fact I have a bad feeling with the love potion hitting me and Reggie, I have no idea who I saw first when the potion took effect who knows how long ago. With that thought going through my head, I start to worry who Reggie saw when the potion took effect on him. I find my answer not too long after that when the potion wears off. Instead of either being in a room full of my friends or being in my room with the door locked from the outside, I come to in a cave cell. I get up rubbing my head and look around to see if there is a way out of this sticky situation that doesn't involve freezing the door off it's hinges. After both searching my cell and trying to see if there was anything in the other cell next to me, I end up freezing the door off of my cell.  I start to walk to the only other door besides the two cell doors when I hear a small whimper come from the second cell. I stare at the cell for a few minutes, wondering if the black person shaped mass is just my imagination or not. "Hmm. It won't hurt to check if someone is actually in there or not." I mutter, approaching the door as carefully and quietly as I can.
