Chapter 32

Jong's POV

Headed home i cant keep my eyes on the road and keep glancing at my woman - my fiancè.

Til she asked me to keep my eyes on the road which i obliged but i kept her hand in mine and from time to time kissing the back of her hand.

Her soft hand fits perfectly with mine.

Then a song came on the radio which she started singing that i have to ask her what's the title, which i found out was Little Things by One Direction and i now have an addition to the list of my favorite songs for my soon to be wife.

I was smiling like crazy all the way to the house. I took the milk from the fridge, heat it then hand her the other mug.

We were lying on my bed she's practically lying on top of me well half of her.

She rests her head in my chest as she drew circles a few more minutes she had stopped and i knew she was asleep cause she's steadily breathing by then.

I turned the night lamp off and as fixed the duvet on top of us i heard her say softly,

"Salamat Ken. I love you."

"I love you too and thank you." I replied kissing her forehead

I woke up alone in bed and instantly scoured my place and about to cry when i found my woman at the kitchen i hugged her tight afraid of letting her go for she might vanish into thin air.

"Good morning Mr. Martinez." She said sweetly as she rests her head on my shoulder

"Good morning soon to be Mrs. Martinez." I replied kissing her

"What do we have for breakfast?" I asked still nakayakap pa rin - lubusin habang di pa sya nagko complain 😀

"Breakfast? Lunch na 'to noh so BRUNCH 'to technically." Her attempt para magtaray yet naka smile

"WAIT, WHAT TIME IS IT?"

"11:02 sir!"

"HOLY SHIT!"

"Why? Do you need to be somewhere else?"

"Dentist appointment, thats all."

"Tsk tsk thats why alarm clock exists!"

"Now let's eat and get you to your dentist, shall we?"

"Yes, mom!"

If this is just a sneak preview of what married life with Gio would be then im gonna marry her over and over again.

On our way to the dentist, her phone rang

"Yow?"

"What time?"

"Sang clinic tayo pupunta, ken?" If not for Ken i wont know that she was referring to me

"Tapat ng St. Luke's."

"Heard that? Yeah we'll meet you there."

"Who's that?" I queried

"Khaye, kita daw tayo after ng appointment mo."

"Something happened?" I suddenly became anxious

"No, something's about to happen." She replied smiling that made me feel relieved

"That is?"

"Baby shower para sa baby nila Joms at Faith. Surprise sya so si Khaye at Ate Mae ang may pakana and accomplices tayo." She informed me and i know she's excited oh i would love to have baby showerssssssss - yes gagawa kami ng soccer team! 👶👶👶👶👶👶👶👶👶

Their meeting went well. Sched ng baby shower is on sunday sa bahay nila ate Mae. Everyone's required to bring gifts while ate Mae incharge sa foods.

If im at work, Gio's at Ate Mae's place helping prepare everything.

Her eyes were no longer dull yet she's still pale and easily bruised.

So i made sure she eats properly and takes her meds on time.

"Jong, i heard youre engaged?" Asked Dr. Ibañez, head doctor ng ER

"Yes, doc." I answered smiling

"Congrats, iho."

"Congrats, man."

"Congrats crush." They all said in unison. So far di pa kami toxic

"Who's the lucky girl, crush?" Nurse Myla asked

"Gio Lim." I answered proudly

"As in Jeremie Gio Lim?" Dr. Ibañez pried

"The one and only Doc." I smiled while filing the suture kits

"Nagkatuluyan na rin kayo sa wakas!" Nurse James, ka batch ni Gio sa nursing school, said tapping my shoulder

"So when is the big day?" Someone asked

"Dont have yet, but we'll let you know." I told them

After my break, the EMT informed us via radio that they're on their way with an unconscious patient, 70/50 bp and a weak pulse.

As we prep the bed for the incoming pt as well as the kits needed, they came.

The moment my eyes landed on the pt i was mortified but refused to be shocked.

I pushed the stretcher as fast as i could so we could attend to her asap

"Oh my god!" Nurse James exclaimed

Im already attaching IVs to her when Doc Ibañez spoke

"Does she have leukemia?"

"No, but she has an anemia." I informed him as calm as i can for this is not the time to panic

"If this is anemia, its not a simple one. Is she taking any meds?" He continue to ask as he performs the usual and barking instructions

"Yeah she is but i cant tell you which one." Then it hits me i never knew what her meds were.

When Doc asked for a blood sample, i handed it to Nurse Myla right away, for i was able to drew blood out of her even before i was told, so she can have it sent to the lab.

Results came back and it suck the life out of me,

"Gio is suffering from Aplastic Anemia." Doc informed me. Then a medicine bottle from her purse fell, Immunosuppressant.

"Fuck! Fuck! I didnt know. I shouldve known." I started blaming myself as i started transfusing blood into Gio

"There's no way you could've known son for she obviously refused to let you know." Was all Doc said before leaving the room

We're on the 2nd bag of blood when Khaye stormed into the room.

"OH GOD!" khaye exclaimed then soon after started sobbing

Unconscious pa rin si Gio,

"What the hell happened?!" Khaye asked as she held Gio's hand

"Aplastic Anemia." Was all i could say for my hands started to shake but still striving hard to keep my composure for im still on duty and i need to fucking get this blood into Gio's veins.
