{Nadine's POV}

Hmmm. Truth. I can see that. He’ll probably be comparing all the girls he’ll consider his girlfriend to you and find that none of them measures up. And I’m pretty sure none ever will.

James’ faraway look was making me uncomfortable so I tried to brush it off with a joke.

Alam mo, manipis na yang kutsara kakapunas mo. Akina nga yang mga tapos mo na linisin.

We worked side by side in silence. After completing the table setup, I went to the kitchen to help mom with cooking while James joined Reese and my brothers in the sala.

I just tied my apron and was about to start chopping the vegetables when a call from Paulo came through. I set it on loudspeaker so I can work on the veggies while talking to him.

Hey, hon. Happy Christmas.

Merry Christmas! Tell your family Happy Christmas from me too.

You tell them, naka-loudspeaker ka. Andito si Mama.

Hi Pau! Mama greeted loudly from her perch on the table. She was stuffing the chicken with herbs.

Merry Christmas Tita!

Merry Christmas din! Thank you sa gifts kagabi. Makakapunta ka ba today?

Hindi po eh. Pa-Ilocos na po kami ni Aki. Kasama namin sina Paolo at LJ.

Third wheel ka? Ay sorry, fourth pala! My mom laughing at her own joke.

Buti nga po hiwalay kami ng car. Hindi pa rin ako ganun kasanay. Later naman po sa Ilocos kasama namin yung dalawang girls ni Paolo, sina Xonia at Xalene. Tsaka si Lian at yung bf nya.

Wow. That is one hell of a Christmas.

Nadine, language. Baka biglang pumasok si Reese.

Sorry ‘ma. I smiled sheepishly at my mom. Then I continued chopping off the vegetables while I resume my conversation with Paulo.
Dapat pala dyan kami nag-Christmas hon. Join tayo sa kanila haha. Ikaw, tapos ako at si Reese then si James at Nath. We all laughed.

Luka luka yang girlfriend mo, Pau. Akina yang potatoes. Para maisalang ko na ‘to.
