Chase's P.O.V.

I miss Rylie. I haven't really seen her since we kissed in the woods and I think she's avoiding me. Well, at least I got to see her this morning at breakfast. I was currently sitting in my dad's office and he gave me a knowing look.

"So, when were you gonna tell me you met your mate?" he said breaking out into a grin.

"How did you-"

"A father knows," he said, tapping the side of his head, "And plus, you keep on mumbling 'Rylie' and 'mate' so . . . kind of obvious."

"Oh . . . and by the way, how do you know them anyways?" I asked, curiously.

"Not my story to tell but just to let you know, she won't be easy to get. She's had a hard life and from what I can see, she has grown hateful and cruel to people but not to her sister. Watch her, 'cause she is gonna be someone very powerful one day," he said. We talked for awhile before we heard a door slam and footsteps running up the stairs, heard another door slammed.

My dad winced, "She's pis-"

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!" Rylie screamed. I looked at my dad and he looked back. We bolted for the door, 30 other wolves hot on our heels.

When we finally got to the floor Rylie was on, we saw her trembling. Fear, horror and grief evident on her pale face. My heart broke seeing her like this. I ran to her side and Kylie followed.

"Rylie, what's wrong?" I asked. She hugged her legs to her chest and rocked back and forth like a scared child. Some of the wolves whimpered, not liking seeing there future Luna like this.

"Ry, please tell me what happened, please?" her twin begged, unshed tears filled her eyes.

"Dammit don't make me do this, Ry!" she shouted, startling me. Kylie was about to slap her when Rylie raised her hand pointing to the closed bedroom door. I looked at my dad and stood up slowly approaching the door and thats when it hit me. The smell of blood.

I opened the door and gagged, "Jesus Christ . . . " blood was all over the room and furniture was thrown around, claw marks on some. But that wasn't the worst part. The worst part was that Erin hung on the far wall on a cross. Her throat was slit, blood all over her clothes but thats not what caught my eye. Erin had black wings and they were pinned to the wall as well. A golden steak stuck out of her chest. I quickly backed out of the room and looked at my mate. She was clinging to her sister but she had a blank expression on her face. No more emotions . . . no more spark in her eyes.

Nothing.

"Rylie, please don't do this to me, not again. Please don't shut me out again, please,"Kylie begged, her voice nothing but a whisper. Rylie's face grew softer and I saw all the pain she tried to hide but her face went hard again.

"We're going out for a run," crap, her wolf took over. And with that she bolted down the stairs and we heard the front door slam closed only a few seconds later.

"Has this happened before?" I asked Kylie.

She looked up at me, "When this first happened she pushed me away. She wouldn't talk to me, look at me, nothing. The other times it was a bit better but ever since we were five she has been like that."

How many deaths had happened in her life? It must have been alot if she went from 'weak' to cruel in such little time.

"I'm going to go and try to find her, make sure no one goes into that room," I said and made my way to the back door. My dad just nodded and let me go.

As soon as I got outside I stripped and shifted. A million different scents entered my nose but one stuck out. I quickly ran after it, twisting around trees. Suddenly, the scent just seemed to disappear. I had followed the scent all the way to a waterfall flowing into a lake, everything seemed so peaceful but there was one thing that didn't belong. A black wolf lying underneath a shady tree. Rylie stood up and her wolf was breathtakingly beautiful. Rylie shifted back, unaware of me there.

My eyes went wide. Not at seeing her naked, but because of the two huge scars on her back shaped into a 'v'. Also that for a second, Rylie was as tall as me with silver waist length hair, bigger breasts, and a more defined body. I blinked but Rylie wasn't there. I looked all around until I felt someone jump onto my back, feet first, and press something to my chest.

"Shift," she barked. I did as I was told and I was amazed by the fact that she looked me over wih no shame and her eyes met mine again.

She scoffed, rolled her eyes and turned around walking back the way I just came. I got dressed quickly and followed her. We walked in silence for awhile before she spoke.

"I guess you regret the moon goddess giving you a messed up mate. I mean, I know I would. I hate my-"

"Don't. Don't ever say that, Rylie. You are perfect to me and who doesn't have a messed up past? I mean look at me, I don't even know who my mom was-"

"Sydney," she said quietly. "Her name was Sydney. She met your dad after his mate died. One thing lead to another and you appeared 9 months later. Your mom was forced into exile after some humans found out and she was a disgrace to her family," she paused and studied me for a second. "You look the same. Same hair, same eyes, same personality and persistence," she finished with a light chuckle.

"How do you know my mom?" I asked, shocked.

"She and I, umm, so when will you be taking over the pack?" she asked changing the subject.

"Three months," I replied letting it slide just this once.

"Are you nervous?"

"Surprisingly, no. I mean, I feel like I'm going to throw up thinking about it, but other then that, I'm good," I said as she laughed. It was a nice sound.

"How are you feeling?" I asked suddenly.

"I'm . . . better I guess you could say,"she chuckled lightly, "You'd think I'd be okay with death after how much it's in my life."

I was about to say something when wolves came out of no where, circling us.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" doesn't that sound familiar?

"Looks like we've got two little wolves with no where to go," a she-wolf pouted mockingly. I tried pushing Rylie behind me but she stayed put, glaring at the first wolf.

"Oh would you look at that. Little Alexandra is back," I frowned and was about to ask who he was talking about but Isabelle interupted me.

"What are you doing here, Josh, last time I checked, you and I had an agreement that you would stay in Canada," Rylie, or Alexandra, said.

"Yeah, well, I heard my little Angel was in town and I wanted to see if it was true, so get over here and give your boyfriend a hug," Josh said and opened his arms wide.

Wait, BOYFRIEND!?!?
