Chase's P.O.V.

Something is going to happen tomorrow, I can feel it. I know its not fear or nervousness but more like a gut feeling that something bad will happen. Something that will change the fate of the war.

"Hey," Isabelle said, kissing my cheek and I smiled at her, all worry going out the window. I couldn't believe that this amazing, strong woman was my mate and for some reason I keep on thinking that one day I'm going to wake up and she would have been a dream.

"How did I get so lucky to have you in my life?" I asked her as I studied her face.

"That's a first, usually people say 'what did I do to get you in my life?' and I don't mean a nice way," she said and I laughed.

"Well, you are kind of a bitch," I said and ran.

"Jerk!" I heard her yell, chasing after me... that is, however, until I ran into someone.

Isabelle laughed as the she-wolf scolded me like a pup that had chewed up her favourite pillow, while waving the wooden spoon in her hand at me. This is what happens when you run in the house, apparently.

"Shouldn't you be yelling at Isabelle too, she was running as well," I said and the she-wolf glanced at Isabelle.

"Hello, sweetie," she greeted and I sighed in exasperation.

"Hey, Marie. How's the pain in your shoulder?" my mate asked.

"Just fine after you suggested that remedy, worked like a charm," Marie said, smiling.

"That's why you're not yelling at her," I muttered and she glared at me.

"Why would I? She's an Angel in all sense," she said casting a cheeky look at Isabelle.

"Isabelle!" Anna said, bursting into the kitchen. Panic was written on her face and a bit of blood splattered her shirt.

"Which one?" Isabelle asked.

"Joshua," she said and two men quickly brought the hurt Angel inside.

He handed Isabelle two necklaces, "Mine and Damien, he didn't make the journey."

I took in Joshua's condition and winced. Three claw-like marks dragged from one side of his chest to the other and cuts were on his cheeks, leaving a trail of blood down his face that dripped into the mess of his chest. His wings looked shattered and his right arm was dislocated.

He died a couple minutes later.

Isabelle came back from the lake, clutching the necklaces in her hand. Exhaustion was carved onto her face as she headed to her office and my wolf whimpered at seeing his mate like that.

Annabelle's P.O.V.

Pain flashed through Chase's eyes as he watched Isa walk into her office and I put a hand on his shoulder, shooting him a small smile, before following my twin. Using her magic like this was putting a drain on her energy.

When I walked into her office, she was sitting in her chair, head in her hands and necklaces in front of her. Stress was carved into her back, making it hunched in the leather chair. Her silver hair hung like a curtain over her face and I walked over to her and sat in front of her, on her desk.

"I don't understand, what's the purpose of the necklaces? Why do they fit together? Why did they give us them?" she asked, glancing up at me.

"I don't know but what I do know is that we have much bigger things to worry about right know. We are going to a war that will decide the fate of everything tomorrow and we have a Siren that witnessed the murder of many," I said and Isabelle nodded.

We sat in silence for a few minutes before Isabelle spoke up, "I'm so sorry Anna," she whispered brokenly.

"For what?" I asked, frowning in concern.

"Dad told me to protect you and for 200 years I ignored you, I became heartless and cruel," she said and I saw a tear fall and land on the floor. I quickly wrapped my arms around her as she started to sob and tears started to leave my eyes for my mom, my dad, my sister, everything and everyone.

I hugged her closer as I started to sob and her arms wrapped around me. "Isa, what happened to Jake wasn't your fault."

"Yes, it was," she said and I pulled back to look at her.

"What do you mean?" I asked and she looked at me.

"You have to sin to become a Dark Angel," she told me. "Greed is what happened to me. I was offered power to make Jake fall in love with me and bring him to a place. I told you he was a charge but he wasn't. I was contacted and they told me an address and to bring him with me. I went there alone but he followed me and when I told them that I couldn't do it, they brought him out and chained me, forcing me to watch. Later that night, I was turned," she finished and I pulled her closer.

"I-is there anything that could change this? That could make the Council change you back?" I asked and she nodded.

"I have to-" a knock on her door interrupted us and Isabelle quickly wiped away her tears and I sat on her desk again.

"Come in," she said and Ba-Koral came in, Layla holding her hand.

"We just wanted to apologize about lying to you," she said and Layla nodded.

"I forgive you and understand why you did so, but don't expect special treatment, Your Highness," Isabelle said, smirking.

"Wouldn't dream of it," she responded and looked at me.

I hesitated until Isabelle's voice entered my head. 'Just do it,' she said and I looked at her. 'You lied for the same reason she did, to keep yourself and others safe. If you don't forgive her then she should be allowed to not forgive you,' she said and I sighed.

'I hate when your right,' I said and she laughed. "I forgive you," I said and she grinned at me, quickly pulling me into a kiss.

"Alright you two, save that for the bedroom," Isabelle laughed and we pulled away, blushing.

Isabelle's P.O.V.

I smiled at my sister as her face reddened, "Now leave me be, I have some important things to do." I told them and they rolled their eyes before leaving. "Layla, can you stay please?" I asked and she nodded, waiving good-bye to my sister and her mate before skipping over to me.

Annabelle and Koral left hand in hand, closing my door behind them.

"Layla, what I'm about to ask of you is going to be very hard but I need to know, okay?" I asked and she nodded. "I need your permission to enter your mind and look at your memories."

The little girl looked shocked for only a second before nodding. I smiled at her.

"I am going to warn you, you might feel a slight burn and uncomfortableness but try not to move, okay?" I said and she nodded again.

Picking her up, I sat the young Siren on my desk and pulled my chair closer. I put my hands on the sides of her head before muttering, "let's do this."
