Annabelle's P.O.V.
Something is wrong with Bailey, she never acts like that not to anyone. I frowned as I watched her walk into the pack house without a word.
"HELP!! Someone please help!!" I heard a voice cry and my head shot towards the forest. No one seemed to hear the cry and I frowned in confusion.
"Help! Someone please help me!!" the voice called again and I followed my instincts, walking into the forest.
"Annabelle?" someone asked but I ignored them, walking further into the forest as the voice kept on calling for help. The smell hit me before I saw it and what I did see made my stomach twist.
Blood and bodies littered the clearing. Red dripped from bodies in the trees, making it look as if the trees were bleeding. Bits of flesh were scattered around and the insides of the people where ripped out and hanging from the trees, smeared into the rocks, thrown around and... they were just everywhere. Tears filled my eyes as I looked around and I gagged as the smell hit me again.
"Help, please!" the voice rang out again and I tore my eyes away from the lifeless, blank eyes of the dead.
"H-hello?" I called out, my voice shaking.
A movement among the bodies caught my eyes and I prepared myself for what I would find. Walking over to the mound of about 15 lifeless people, I swallowed back the bile before lifting a body off the mound. Doing that about seven more times, I gasped at what I saw.
A little girl, maybe six years old, stared up at me. Blood and other things that I didn't even want to think about covered her as tears ran down her face.
"Help, please, help me," her whispered voice filled my head and I quickly lifted her out of the remaining bodies. She trembled as I held her in my arms, not caring about the blood.
Tears landed on my shoulder as she cried, "Shh, your safe now. Nothings going to happen to you, I've got you," I whispered in her ear as I stroked her blood stained hair.
"Thank you," she whispered without her lips moving and I hugged her closer.
"I'm going to call for others, okay? Don't worry, they're good people, they aren't going to hurt you," I told her and she nodded. With that I screamed out, "HELP!!! SOMEONE COME QUICKLY, PLEASE!!!" she flinched and I held her closer, standing up.
In no time, wolves burst out of the clearing and my sister landed, tucking her wings in and quickly looked over the clearing, "Shit."
"Annabelle, get back to the pack house," she told me and her eyes widened when she noticed the little girl hiding in the crook of my neck. "Take her back, clean her up and check her for any injuries."
I nodded and stroked the little girl's hair as I ran back to the pack house. People looked at me curiously as I walked quickly into the house and up the stairs. Quickly walking into my bathroom, I placed her on the lid of the closed toilet. I turned the water on and watched as the bath filled up with warm water.
"What's your name, sweetie?" I asked her.
"Layla," she said, her mouth not moving.
"How are you doing that?" curiosity filled my voice.
She just shrugged and avoided my gaze.
Layla watched me as I took of her bloody clothes and threw them into the garbage. Lifting her into the bath, I washed the blood from her arms, legs and face. She started to cry again as I washed her hair and I started to sing a lullaby under my breath, just loud enough for her to hear.
