Chapter 1:
"Liz! Liz! We have to go! We are gonna be late for school!" I called down for my younger sister. She was always running late and dragging me with her in the process. "Liz, I'm leaving. You can catch a ride if you are gonna take this long!"
"Hang on! I'm coming Jen!" she called down the stairs from the bathroom. She ran down the stairs swinging her bag over her shoulder on the way down. "I guess we aren't going to go to Starbucks this morning?"
"Well, I would but since we only have 20 minutes to get to school before the bell rings we can't. Maybe, if you would get out of bed on time and stop starting to get ready 5 minutes before we are supposed to leave we could go! Now, I have to miss my morning coffee!" I told her as I opened the front door and started walking to my car. "It's a good thing I have wonderful friends who will get me coffee because my sister is a lazy person."
"Jen, you know I was out late last night! Plus, it takes more than 5 minutes to perfect this magnificent look!" she tells me innocently. I start the car and start my drive to school.
"Well, stop sneeking out! And, dont get high on youself, plus I know it takes more than 5 minutes that is why you get up at 5:30 like I do so you can get ready and still have time to bitch around!"
"Jen, I'm not arguing with you. You don't understand what my life is like."
"I don't understand because I only party on weekends like normal people?"
"Yes, thank you for finishing my statement." I looked over at her and gave her a look.
"Whatever Liz. All I'm saying is tomorrow if you aren't ready by 7 o'clock I'm leaving without you." Even though I knew I wouldn't do it, I threatened it anyways because she didn't know that. She hated riding the bus and I have a feeling we will be out of the door by 6:55 tomorrow morning.
"Fine, fine. I'll be ready." she said and looked out her window. "So we really aren't going to Starbucks?"
"No, but I'll call Mel and tell her to pick you something up. No complaining she gets you what she gets you. Do you understand? If you complain she's not going to get you a coffee ever again." I told her.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." We turned a corner.
"Call Mel" I told my car.
"Calling Mel" My car responded in a robotic voice.
"Hey girl, whats up?" Mel said. Mel is my best friend. We've been besties since the first grade and our friendship has lasted to our senior year. I cant ever see us not being friends.
"Are you still at Starbucks?" I asked her
"Yeah, why did Liz not get up until 6:50 again today?"
"Yeah." I looked over at her but she wasn't paying attention. "Do you think you could grab us something caffinated?" I asked her.
"Of course! What do you want. I'll get Liz the same thing I always do." I saw Liz out of the corner of my eye make a disgusted look. I looked over at her and gave her a piercing gaze.
"Can you get me a mocha latte?"
"Sure thing sweet cheeks!"
"Thanks, Mel! See ya at school?"
"Of course!" with that she hung up and I pulled into Bridgets driveway. Bridget was my sisters friend. She was always happy. No matter what. It could be 5 o'clock in the morning and she would hop in the car all smiles. I don't know why I ever agreed to pick her up every morning. Just as I thought this she bounded down her steps and hopped in the car with a humungous smile on her face.
"Hey Lizzy! Hey Jenny!" She always put a "y" on the end of our names and I knew I hated it. Freshman girls always made me so angry."Thanks a million for picking me up!"
"No need to thank me, I've been doing it all year." I said through clenched teeth.
She quieted down but never took the smile off her face. She just sat there with a smile on her face. I half expected her to start bobbing up and down in her seat, put pigtails in her hair, and start popping some gum.
We pulled into the driveway to the school and I sat behind a row of cars. When I finally got into the parking lot I parked my car and got out of my seat. When Liz and Bridget were out I locked my car up and looked at my reflection in my window.
I was the most popular girl in school. That meant I had to keep my head up and always look my best. I was the head cheerleader and dating the quarterback. I know its cliched but we just clicked. I was president of student counsel and had grades that blew everyone away. Everyone loved me and anyone who didn't, didn't show it. Today, I was wearing jeans that had little holes in them, a white scooped neck shirt and a black jacket that almost touched my waist. I had black heels on and my toenails were painted white. I walked over to the stairs where my group of friends were waiting for me.
Mel walked over and handed me the cup of coffee she got me. "Thanks doll! I owe you!" I told her.
She laughed "Babe, it's ok, I know you'll never be on time with a sister like Liz."
"I wish you were wrong" I said with a grin on my face. Sara, one of my other friends came up and started talking my ear off.
"Ok, so you know that party last night that Danny Gilardo threw?"
"Yeah. What happened?" I asked. Sara was the ultimate gossip girl. If anything happened she was the first to know. If you needed trash on someone you went to Sara and she would give you what you needed. Although this could be an advantage, being friends with her also made me constantly watching my back.
"Ok, you know that Geri girl who was going out with Ryan, from the football team? Well, she caught him in a room doing more than kissing with Wendy Tyranald! They got into a huge fight! She got totally smashed and danced on table tops and everything! Then she hooked up with some guy. I heard she has a massive hang over and the guy she hooked up with left her in the room."
"Aww, I feel bad. But that is totally laughable." I grinned expressing my sarcasm. "Is she coming to school today? She needs a big hug."
"She might. I'm not completely sure. I'll find out though!" Then she whipped out her phone and began searching for Geri.
"Guess who." said a voice behind who's hands then covered my eyes.
I laughed and turned around pulling my boyfriend into a hug.
"Hey, babe!" I said
He pulled me up into a kiss. It wasn't long but was long enough to show affection.
"So, how was your night of fun?" he asked me sarcastically. I turned down a date with him because I had a date with my mom. She invited me to eat popcorn with her and snuggle up in a blanket to watch lifetime movies. Whenever I had "dates" with my mom, my boyfriend called them "nights of fun".
"Well, it was great Grant. Glad to know you care about my chick flick habits." I said with a smirk on my face.
"Glad to hear you had a good time with your mom" he told me and pulled me up into a kiss again. He knew her and I didnt always get along so well. "I have to get to homeroom and so do you! You do realize you have two minutes right." I pulled out my phone and looked at the time.
"Crap! Lets get going guys!" I said to my friends. Grant took my hand and led me to homeroom. We took our seats just as the bell rang.
End of Chapter 1! I hope you liked it!! :)
