and grade 10 has been stressing this old gal
out .Exams were right around the corner and I
Didn't have anytime between studying to write this chapter .

Midnight's POV

I swam as fast as i could to the sound of the scream. It was coming from near a pile of mossy boulders.

As I got closer the figure seemed to take the shape of a girl . when she saw me she started to mumble something under the lines of " help me please"

Her tail was stuck under one of the boulders.
She had straight Brown hair and looked to be no more than 11 or 12.

I came up in front of her tried to move the boulder with my powers.
After two tries, It finally moved .

The girl said " thank you princess"
"no need to thank me darling ,but we need to get you to safety.

" What's your name?"
I asked her .
"maddie" she replied.
"ok maddie, let's go"
And I held her hand and we swam off.

As we were nearing the castle gates,
the sea floor started to shake violently.
I was completely thrown offguard.

Maddie instantly clung to me like kelp.
I could see the fear in her eyes.
" it's going to be ok " I coo into ears.
I try my best to cover her from the falling debris .

This would be a lot easier if a certain someone was here .
Sigh.

I held her like my own child and tubroswimmed until I saw the entrance to the evacuation chamber. It looked dark and was very silent.

I descended slowly until I reached the the bottom.
I was in the presence of my own people.
I don't think anyone sensed the presence of me or Maddie.

"What are we gonna do now princess?"
Maddie whispered.
The word felt like a spear to my tail.
"Honestly, I don't know"
I answered truthfully.

"How about we go find your mommy?"
I say trying to change the subject of the fact that we could be dead any minute.
"I- I don't have a mommy !"
Maddie chokes between tears.

Poor thing .

I hug her once more patting her head and telling her it's going to be ok. Even though we both know that it wouldn't.
Then I realized.

Everyone was looking at me all this while.
"So princess, " Said a gruff voice.
"What do we do now? "

I looked deep into Maddie's eyes and said
"We wait".
