Midnight's POV

I was still in shock after Adrian asked me a question a few seconds ago.
"midnight will you marry me?"
he asked.
Of course, I said no. First of all,I'm.sixteen and I still haven't finished school. Second,Natasha would kill me and plus, I'm a princess so my parents would have to approve.

"I'm sorry Adrian I can't" And with a sullen look on his face he swam away.
I'm sitting on a boulder thinking about what just transpired a while ago,when a guard swims up to me.

"princess,it is not safe for you to stay here in the city any more; your father requests you return to the surface instantly." he says out of breath.

I get up and start to swim silently behind the guard to the castle.
Poor Adrian,he might not even know that I'm going up to the surface.

But then I remembered something."umm,sir" I said."yes your majesty?" "what about my mother?" I was still worried about her and the baby. "she will be coming with you to the surface, anything else princess?"the guard asked.

"no that's all thank you." I replied.
Although I was glad that I was going to the surface,and I would get to see Natasha again,I was still worried about dad and more importantly,Adrian.

That's if he makes it out of this war alive.....

My mom and I finally reached the surface and we took a cab to our house.
Mom's baby bump was finally getting bigger,so I had to help her to walk up the driveway.

Once we got inside,I saw that mom looked a little pale.
Of course,this was normal for pregnant mermaids to get a little lighter or darker than their original skin color,but mom looked ghostly white.

I think she's getting sick......
