"The King has announced that Princess Mithian will be staying in Camelot for a few days." Merlin told me while the both of us are walking down the corridor.
I let out a groan, "When would Arthur not make any idiotic decisions? There is something fishy about her, I'm sure of it!" I placed my hand on the hilt of my sword.
"What makes you say that? He's a great King!" Merlin exclaimed, obviously I recognised that speech would be of sarcasm, because he'd never say Arthur is a good King. He pushed me towards Gauis's chambers, "Come on, you need to get prepared for the ball this evening."
"Why would I want to change? I like this look!" I argued as I was dragged into his room next. It was a total mess, but there is a dark blue gown that sat atop his bed. It somehow reminded me. I wore this gown before. Not that I only have this dress to wear. I have a lot. "Hey, I wore this before!" I exclaimed.
"You wore that during your wedding." Merlin informed me, getting the dress and pushed me behind the divider, "You are going to look amazing in this dress. You don't want to be late so chop chop!"
I gladly change out of my stinky chainmail uniform and shrugged into the dark blue gown. I was thankful to Merlin when he had helped me braided my hair, and let me slip into some comfortable heels he borrowed from Gwen.
He also rushed to my chambers to bring back my aquamarine jewel set, which was set heavily on my necklane and dangling from my ears.
"You look amazing!" Merlin confirmed.
I blushed, "Thank you," I told him. I tried to look as formal as I could, "How about you, Merlin? Aren't you going to change out of that?" I gestured towards his clothes.
"No," he shook his head, "The ball is for invitation only."
"Come on, you'd love Camelot's balls." I urged him.
"It's actually my first time." Merlin argued.
"There is no reason to hesitate, then. I've been to Camelot's balls in my free time if I am not outside guarding its perimeters as Captain." I told him.
After one month in Camelot, most of my memories are already coming back to me. But Merlin helped most of the time. And also Gauis, Guinevere, and other friendly people of the castle.
My ears perked up when the great bell of Camelot rang, echoeing throughout the kingdom, "That's my call! I have to go!" I rushed out of his room and once I said goodbye to Gauis, I ran out of his chambers and up the stairs to the ballroom, gathering my skirts.
-
"Aurora! You made it!" Gwen's face lit up when she saw me, she was in her most finest silk gown, and she has a golden crown sitting atop her head.
I breathed heavily, "Of course, I had to run all the way up here. I thought I was late when I heard the great bell of Camelot." I told her.
"Would you like some refreshment?" Gwen looked at my state. "I... could get you some water if you'd like."
I shook my head, "No, no..it's fine. You don't have to do all that." I straightened my back, and let out a sigh of relief, "Glad to make it, actually. Is this your first ball in Camelot?"
"Yes, it actually makes me nervous." Gwen whispered as the trumpets blared and Arthur entered, followed by the knights of Camelot.
I had to stand beside Gwen while I watch as Leon took his place beside Arthur, "Well, you are going to enjoy it. It'll be the ball of your lifetime." I whispered back, grinning.
"I do hope so," Gwen says while clapping as the rest of the knights took their positions.
I felt I had to clap too, so I just did, a little, to respect the knights of Camelot. All of us silenced when Arthur began his important speech which is, "Let us welcome the Princess Mithian as our guest of Camelot. Let us enjoy this ball!"
I thought it was the most useless speech he had ever said. I don't really care about the princess. I think she's bad news. And her maid was roaming around in the shadows of the ballroom it creeps me out.
Gwen and I chatted throughout the ball, and I could see the people dancing in their finest silks, I almost laughed when Arthur asked for Gwen's hand in a dance.
I clapped as they took their place on the dance floor, slowly moving side to side keeping in pace with the slow music in the background.
I went for a glass of water as a servant brought a tray of it towards me. I just grabbed one cup and took a gulp of it because hell was I thirsty.
I could see Mithian walking around, chatting with the guests, and when she met my gaze she smirked. Her face looked to it as if I was the enemy!
But all that suspicion was gone. Leon asked for my hand in dancing politely, and I quickly washed the thoughts of the princess away from my mind.
Both of us swayed side to side, him turning me around to show off my dress that shimmers underneath the light of the ballroom. A minute or two later I thought I was getting dizzy because of the dancing.
My feet began throbbling badly, and my head is turning round and round.
"Are you alright?" He asked worriedly.
I nodded, feeling not alright at all. I was sweating, and my feet turned weak and jellyish, unable to control myself, I fell on the ground, luckily Leon was able to grab me while kneeling down before my head hit the hard floor.
The crowd erupted in horrified gasps. My vision is going so HQ, I could not see anything as my world went black.
