Ava came jogging towards us and her face was all proud and very red in her cheeks, "Mother! How did I do?" She asked me, grinning widely, "I beat King Arthur!" She exclaimed.
I could barely believe it. Hell was I wrong. So wrong. I clammed my mouth shut and cleared my throat, "Er...you did great! I'm so proud of you." My tone is so dull I knew she can suspect that it was actually fake.
"Can I go on patrol now?" Ava was smiling like a constipated person, and seriously, it creeps me out.
I nodded slowly, and shot Leon a nervous smile.-
Leon and I are getting ready for the patrol with the other knights with Arthur, who will be following us as well. I cannot seem to get Ava away from us. I mean - she's really acting immature, which reminded me of Sefa and her relationship with her druid father.
"We are to be back by dusk. If we are not, please alert the Queen to sent out someone to find us." I told the guards stationed in front of the gates before swinging myself on Javelin's saddle and leaving Camelot.
-
We arrived in the meadows by noon, and we are to look out for the remaining Cenred's army - who seemed to be rumored that they are still haunting the borders and Annis's army is clearly outnumbered.
I rolled my eyes everytime I heard Ava squealing. It is her first patrol after all. After the 100th time she squealed, I let out an annoyed groan and turned around to look at her, "Ava Antionette!" I scolded, "This is a patrol. If you can't handle these circumstances.., you are free to go back to Camelot!"
I do hate when the knights turned to look at me scolding at Ava. But hey, it's her and we need to concentrate. I grumbled some curse words under my breath, that I am sure that Leon can very well hear.
When Ava finally shut up, I let out a sigh, "Percival, Elyan, please, please please! Bring her back to Camelot." I ordered. I hate ordering people, especially my friends, but I need them to bring Ava back, and she would finally shut up there, "Make her stay with the Queen."
"Yes, Captain," Elyan nodded.
"Captain?" Ava practically shrieked, almost...furiously.
I have never told her about me being a Captain, it's probably because it's for the best. If anybody knew Ava, and that her mother is the true Captain of Camelot, they would be either out looking for me or her.
Ava already knew that Leon is the knight of Camelot, but she never knew of my identity. And right now she is a furious teenage bull who is to strike at any moment.
"You never told me you were the Captain of Camelot!" She shouted, trying to resist the grasps of Elyan and Percival.
I tried my best to ignore her screams, and led the patrol forward. Arthur, Gwaine and Leon are the only remaining knights coming with me to patrol the meadows to see if the rumors are true, whilst Elyan and Percival take Ava back to Camelot.
"Why have you not told Ava about you being the Captain of the Royal Guard of Camelot?" Arthur asked me, intrigued, while we are riding on the way.
"It's obviously for the best, Arthur." I replied shortly.
"She must never be hidden from your secrets. You should tell her everything. She is your daughter after all." Arthur suggested.
I made a face, "Some secrets are meant to be hidden. I know her friends. And some friends she have made...they're very suspicious and I don't like them very much."
"We are already suspicious of her." Leon agreed.
"We must find out who these friends of hers are." Arthur said.
"But the patrol," I protested.
"My friends come first before Camelot." He cut me off.
-
"She never tells me about a Captain in Camelot." Ava grumbled under her breath as she, Percival and Elyan journeyed back to Camelot on horseback.
"Your mother is a great Captain," Elyan pipes up.
"She has led Camelot's armies more than you think. She has always led Camelot to victory. You should be happy for her, not get mad." Percival agrees.
Ava let out a sigh, "So tell me about her life earlier before this."
