Came round for my second season of off the field analysis of the club with updates on players fitness and availability as well as any other news like transfers and match changes for our men in red and our manager in his usual black/grey. Old and new...
Liverpool camp is stirring but not as much compared to the start of the silly season, though we do have something to do in the meantime before the actual season starts: boycott Red Bull drinks. It was a joke that started off alright but turned sour thanks to other Twitter users and the main idea is that if RB Leipzig doesn't give up Naby Keita, Liverpool fans boycott Red Bull drinks until it happens. And we have a tonne of fans. The idea of every Liverpool fan getting in on this is quite exciting though and I've started this since the day I was born, so quite the hipster on this. Let's get to the real news, though.
James Rodriguez Linked To Liverpool Yet Again:
Well, this is flattering, albeit unrealistic. If this was released before we got Salah, I'd have given this an outside chance of happening because we do need talent on the wings. Or, at least we needed more talent on the wings at the time. Now, we do have enough people to play on the wings and should we finally get Keita, have no need for James on both the wings and in midfield. Should we somehow not have Keita at the end of the day, even then we don't need him because he's simply just going to be that expensive and possibly not fit in. The only time I see him being a possibility is if we sell Coutinho. And we can't sell Coutinho. At least, not now. (Hopefully not ever, but that's for another silly season)
PSG Get The Money Ready for Coutinho:
Okay, this is apparently starting now. I have no belief in this coming into something. If he leaves us, I only see it being to Barcelona because they have his best friend Neymar. And best friends do mean something, as shown with Lukaku and Pogba, van Dijk and Wijnaldum and Firmino and Coutinho. Friends are really good at selling their club to their friends, simple as. Anyways, PSG will probably stop him from moving to Barcelona and the thought of him moving to Paris is laughable altogether. LFC aren't going to sell their star player right after a big season where we need to build off the momentum. That'd just be crazy.
Arsenal Refuse to Sell The Ox and The Chilean:
Even though they both only have a year on their contracts and both seem to not want to be at Arsenal . . . so they won't sign a new contract. Yeah, that's . . . not smart at all. I'm sure we all know the reason they don't want to renew anything. In fact, it's said that Alexis Sanchez has been linked to Man City just about all summer and it's just up to Arsenal realising what's happening to get the move done. Oxlade-Chamberlain's only hope was us though and it seems we're really set to not have him. A bit of trouble stirring around that club right now as they try to figure out how they'll stay afloat with Europa League.
Sakho Move To Fall Flat:
We were so close, weren't we? Crystal Palace has a serious interest in our out of favour centre back, he has a serious interest in playing football and we have a serious interest in just getting him out (well, not all of the fans. But enough). It was the perfect set up until the Liverpool higher ups asked for £30m. Now they feel like they may not have enough to complete the move, which I find odd. Because they're a PL team, and the PL money being given to the PL teams is ridiculously good, even newly promoted teams are getting into a lot of money. Maybe they're saying this in hopes to lower the price because they really are the only team n for him that will give a close enough price to what we want. And the asking price we were asking for was probably a bit high anyway.
Liverpool in For Marco Asensio:
Arsenal is too, but when it comes down to it, I'm sure that we'll be the ones picked as we have CL and they don't. What a new and splendid turn of events. Juventus are also in for him, which will probably bring up the price if we are truly in for him. He is described as one of the bright stars in midfield, a position that is notorious for being great when it comes to Spanish internationals. There are a lot of outlets saying we are in for him and it'd be welcome news for me if we are because he seems to be one for the future and even the present. We do have a chance with the Real Madrid side being a hard one to get through, even with an asking price not really set just yet as it's all new.
Naby Keita and van Dijk Push Their Way Out:
Not much, but it seems like their both starting to say that they want to come to Anfield a little more forcefully than before. Especially on Keita's side, as he is starting to bring himself and his agent to meet with the board to talk about all this. That saga is a winding and confusing one, that's for certain. And Virgil van Dijk has apparently told Southampton that he doesn't really care if Everton or Arsenal are around, he'd much rather go to Liverpool. Not really sure if they'll see the error of their ways there.
And after all these words here's a few pictures of Solanke after he's announced! Good night/day, Reds!
