---Shawn's p.o.v---

Scarlett had been isolating herself for the previous three weeks. Every time I called she was 'busy' or 'sick' and she never leaves her room. As it was now summer, she had no reason to leave her room, her school hadn't started back up yet.

Missing her presence, I dialled her number, waiting for an answer I grabbed my sweater and jogged downstairs, walking over to Scarlett's.

Monotonously, I kept calling her until she finally gave in and answered.

'Scarlett!'

I breathed out in relief as I approached her front door.

'Shawn'

She replied with a sense of mundane in her tone.

'Scarlett, I miss you'

I spoke as I stood outside her house.

'Shawn I'm busy'

She breathed out as she let out a sigh.

'Doing what?'

I questioned as I unlocked the door with the spare key hidden in the green, decayed turtle pot and silently made my way to Scarlett's bedroom.

'Umm helping my mum'

she stuttered as she let a whirlwind of lies, instantly making me scoff.

'Wow you look extremely busy right now'

I mumbled as I rested my head against her chipped door frame glancing down at Scarlett, who was crawled up in a blanket facing the opposite way to me, eventually she turned around as her eyes widen in shock.

'Shawn? What are you doing here?' She questioned as she got up off of her bed and walked over to me.

'I missed you.' I mumbled as the anguish I felt due to her lying to me increased. Reluctantly, I wandered into her furnished yet desolate room. Her eyes flittered around the poignant room, attempting to avoid eye contact with me, as she fiddled with the coral, nostalgic ring that was placed on her index finger.

'I-I missed you too' she whispered as she glanced down at the floor forcefully as if the floor was compelling her to look there. Not allowing her to glance up at me.

'Really?' I asked in disbelieve as she's ignored all of my calls and suggestions to hang out.

Hesitantly she nodded her head but without taking her eyes off of the place she was staring at.

'Could've fooled me! Nobody would even think we're da- well we're us. I haven't seen you since my house like three weeks ago. Scarlett, did I do something?'

I asked as I watched her swivelling her ring around over and over. Her frame wasn't as bright and content as it usually would be. Her face was melancholic and exhausted.

She sighed as she glanced up at me, sorrow filling her eyes, as her perfect rounded lips began to tremble.

'You did nothing, Shawn. You're perfect. So perfect I don't deserve you, I don't deserve anything, nothing at all.'

she muttered as she withheld the strong eye contact she was giving me.

'Scar? Of course, you do! What makes you even think that?'

Crouching down by her side, intertwining our fingers together, I asked as confusion spread across my body.

Instantly she pushed my hands off of hers and ran her fingers through her hair, frustratedly.

'You're not listening Shawn! I don't need this pity you feel for me, hell I don't deserve this sympathy you feel for me.'
