"Rebellions are built on hope."
–CASSIANRey attempted to fall asleep, but couldn't help but toss and turn. She was restless, thinking way too much about what Ben had said. He was going to kill Luke Skywalker. His own uncle. His own family. He had already killed his own father. Just how far was he willing to go to get what he wanted? Rey wondered, frustrated and helpless. She didn't know what to do. Was there no hope left in him?
She sat up on the bed and stared at the lightsaber. She was debating. She needed to choose.
Ben, or the Resistance...
The choice tormented her as tears dripped down her face. Then she closed her eyes and breathed in and out. In and out...
"Show me," she whispered. "Please."
She was surrounded by darkness, with the blue lightsaber activated. She was running, breathless. Then she heard him.
"Rey!" He called out. His voice echoing in the dark.
She stopped running and turned around.
But then the vision changed and she was shown the destruction of the Resistance. A space battle. There was so much death. So much sacrifices. And Leia. General Organa and Ben.
And Leia in space...dead.
"No." Rey gasped, breathing heavily. She shook her head, stood up fast. She was trembling now as she tried to comprehend what the Force had shown her. She was afraid now. "Ben...he wouldn't. He couldn't." But now she wasn't so sure. If Ben was capable of killing his own father, what's to stop him from killing his own uncle and mother?
She picked up the lightsaber and left the room. A part of her wanted to run to Ben's room, and briefly her feet stepped toward that direction. But she turned around and ran in the opposite.
She came to the throne room, and stared at the entrance to the Sith Holocron. It remained closed, until she walked up the steps. It opened, and the voice whispered. "Rey..."
She hesitated, unsure. But she needed answers. The door closed behind her as she stepped inside. It was complete darkness, but then the red light shown at the end. It shined brighter and brighter as she walked closer. And now the room was lit with a crimson light. Rey wasn't afraid of it, but she still feared what she seen in her vision. Then she asked, "Is it true? Will Ben kill Luke and Leia?"
"If that is what you saw..." the Sith answered.
"There's still light in him," she shook her head. "He wouldn't–"
"The future is never absolute. But fate is one with the Force."
"I don't understand." Rey began to pace. She was desperate. "What must I do?"
"What does your heart desire?"
Rey's heart was being torn in two. She wanted to be with Ben, yet she wanted to return to the Resistance. She knew now she could only choose one. The realization pained her, almost physically.
"I don't know who to choose..." She gasped.
"There is another choice," the Sith said, softly. "And all your desires will come true."
