Rey kneeled down to look into the hole, only to be sucked in. She let out a surprised scream, but it was cut short when she fell into a pool of water. She kicked her feet, and broke the surface gasping for air and grabbing onto a rock. She pulled herself up and immediately looked around.

She sensed something. Something dark.

"Rey." It whispered.

She wasn't afraid, as this voice had no harmful intent. It showed herself, repeatedly echoing her every move. They were in front and behind her, and she knew she should be panicking but she didn't. She felt a pull to keep moving forward, and then she saw it. The end of the mirror in form of a crystallized stone wall. And she touched it demanding lightly, "Show me my parents."

"Rey," spoke a woman's voice, who Rey knew immediately was her mother.

She could vaguely see the two figures of her parents. They walked toward her from the other side of the wall, "Wait for us." They said. "We'll come back for you."

Rey remembered holding onto those words, giving her hope that they would indeed come back for her. But it was a false hope. A lie to deceive her from the dreadful truth. They were never coming back. And she spent years waiting, waiting for nothing. For no one.

And then it showed her someone else. The two figures disappeared only to merge and form one. A man.

Ben Solo.

"Wait for me," Rey had said on that bridge. "I'll come back for you." And she meant every word, making Ben a promise. And she wanted to keep it.

"He won't choose you," a voice spoke, forcing the vision to fade away.

Rey turned around and saw a perfect manifestation of the Sith. She scowled at him in anger.

"There's no hope," The Sith continued, stepping forward.

"What do you know about hope? You're a Sith." Rey spat. "You chose the Dark Side, and look what it's done to you."

"You put your hope in the wrong people," The Sith interjected. "That is your weakness."

"Without hope there's no light," said Rey. "It's hope that brought me here."

"False hope."

Rey didn't know what to say, as she pondered his words. What if he was right? What if it was false hope that brought her here? Her past was proof of such belief; as her family abandoned her and lied, forging a fake promise. And she came here, hoping to be trained by the Jedi she believed in as a child. She hoped Ben would turn and choose her over the First Order. She had also hoped she'd find the answers she wanted.
