Lauren
----------------
It was my first time in the lake. My first time! And now we were stranded.
"I really shouldn't have gone canoeing with a bunch of kids who dont know the difference between Selenium and  antimony!" Tiffany insulted.
"Nobody knows the difference between Selena-selenia....what you said!" Zuri argued.
"Guys come on!" Griff interrupted. "It's not exactly the best time to argue.
"Didn't you tie the rope to the dock?" Zuri asked.
"I thought you were doing that!" Tiffany groaned.  Great. Now we were stuck. When I said I wanted to go on adventures, this is not what I meant! I have to admit, I did ask to make amazing memories, and I would definitely remember this.
"Maybe we could use our hands to paddle back to camp?" I suggested.
"Lauren, I know you're new here," Zuri said quietly, "but we do NOT touch the LAKE!" I looked at Griff and Tiffany and they shrugged.
"So, you got a better plan?" I asked. Zuri thought for a minute.
     "Yell for help?"
     "Sounds good," we all said.
     "Help!"
     "We're stuck!"
"We're in the lake!" Our shouts overlapped each other and filled the air with sound. I was surprised the whole camp couldn't hear us. Suddenly, a figure became visible on the dock.
     "Look it's Lou!" I exclaimed.
"Where?" Zuri asked as she stood up. The weight of the canoe was now uneven and it tipped so She and Tiffany hung off the side.

Griff
--------------
"Zuri! Tiffany!" Lauren grabbed onto their arms and I leaned back so the canoe would even out. She pulled them back up and they sat back down. Tiffany started breathing heavily.
     "Whoa....Thanks Laur....you saved us."
"Wait...what'd you call me?" Lauren asked.
"Oh sorry, do people not call you Laur? I call my cousin Laur so I kind of just assumed," she apologized
"Oh it's fine... I just.... nobody's called me that in forever."
"If you don't want me to call you that's it's fine I-"
"No! No! Really it's fine! I was just kind of surprised." I didn't know why Lauren was so surprised. Laur is a nickname for Lauren isn't it? I've noticed that random things make her seem really uncomfortable. I don't know what's going on.
"So let me just get this straight," I said. "Do you want to be called Laur or Lauren?"
"Either is fine!" She said a little too happily. "I guess you can call me Laur, so when you're mad at me you can call me Lauren and I'll know!" Tiffany and Zuri chuckled and started talking, but I saw Lauren was uncomfortable. Maybe I'd ask her about that later. Lou was in a canoe now heading towards us. Xander told me this happens to him all the time, so Lou is used to it by now.
She hooked our canoe to hers and paddles back to camp. The whole time, Lauren has a sour face on. I was definitely asking her about this later. We soon arrived back at camp and Lauren jumped out of the canoe as fast as she could.
"Well I'm gonna go," she mumbled and ran off.
"Ok bye Laur!" Zuri called. I followed after her.

Lauren
--------------
I don't know why it bothered me so much to be called Laur. The whole incident was years ago! I mean it's just a nickname. They're not teasing me. They don't even know what happened. Still, no matter how hard I tried, I was offended. I started running back to Woodchuck cabin. Zuri and Tiffany were at the lake, Lou had to get to a safety class with little kids, and Emma was teaching fishing. It would be empty. I just needed some time to think.
It wasn't long before I heard Griff trailing behind me.
"Lauren come on!" He called.
"Just leave me alone!"
"What happened back there!"
"I don't want to talk about it!" I ran into the cabin and closed the door. He stuck his head in the window.
"Come on, I just wanna talk." I sighed and gave in opening the door.
"Why did being called Laur brother you so much?" He asked.
"It didn't! I was just surprised. Now can you leave me alone. I sat on my bed and held my head in my hands.
"Lauren...." he started. "I've been through a lot. Whatever happened, I'll understand." I sighed. I couldn't believe I was doing this. I vowed to myself last year I would never bring this up again. Yet here I was.
"Ok... You want to know what happened?" I asked. He nodded sincerely. "It all started October 4th 2003..."
