It doesn't feel real. To be on a plane, my head in Chase's lap, on the way back to Texas. Instead of on a tour bus, my feet across Shawn's lap, on our way to yet another state.

I want to write one of my songs alone, no help from Shawn, no help from Chase. I will call Shawn for advice and I have Chase to help me work on the second song. To be completely honest I have no clue how to write music. All I've ever done is sing.

I open my eyes a little bit, just enough to look up at Chase, his earbuds are in, and his brow is creased. I wonder what he's thinking, and what he's listening to. He likes everything, it's almost impossible to guess what his favorite song is, he changes it on the daily. That's one of the things I love about him.

The moment he puts his hand on my head and unplugs his earbuds, I decide its a good time to stop faking sleep, and to talk. We haven't done much of that lately, I think we should though. There are things that I want to say to him, and things that I'm expecting him to say to me.

"Chase"

"hmm?"

"Can we talk?" I ask sitting up in my own seat, running my hand through my messy hair.

He nods but looks at me a bit confused. I must have said it like there was something wrong.

"Nothings wrong baby, you can stop looking so scared." I laugh.

A look of relief washes over his face, and he laughs too.

"What'd you want to talk about?"

"Anything I guess, we haven't really talked much since I left Dallas."

" I know, I missed you" He sighs kissing my head softly, and I wince.

That is one thing I should tell him, about Shawn kissing me on the head. Right? But maybe I should just leave it be. I need Sophie so badly right now, I'm driving myself crazy with all these questions.

"Can I take you out to dinner, when we get back?" He asks looking at me

"Hunter invited us to hang out at the lake."

"Then I guess we'll have to be late then, won't we?"

"It's a date" I smile at him, giving him a light peck on the lips.

We go the rest of the ride, talking about College, and what our future would be like. It was scary, we've never thought about us in the long term. He's going to Texas A&M, and I will be too, unless I get this record deal. If I get this deal I'll move out to LA with Soph, and take some online classes. Thats what scares me the most, being that far away from him again. Something almost happened last time, and I wan't to leave it like that. Almost.

"You look perfect Denny" Chase says sitting down on the side of the booth across from me. I kiss him on the cheek in thanks, even though I think I look the same as I always do here at home.

A bathing suit peaking out from under my tank top, a delicate gold choker around my neck. Small jean shorts and Black strappy, Chacos.

"We haven't done something like this in a while." I smile reaching across the table to take his hand in mine, "it's nice."

"Yeah, It is".

We just joke around, not really talking about deep topics, sipping milkshakes and picking at nachos. Our idea of the perfect dinner date.

He surprises me though when he brings up an old game that we used to play. It's called things.
