I scrolled through Twitter, constantly putting my phone down to peer at the TV. I was looking for something, but was not sure what. The bus had been stopped, but I figured it was a flat or a traffic. I didn't have the will-power to look out the window to see what was going on. I just resumed my scrolling, then looking, then scrolling, then looking over and over and over again. That was, until I heard the familiar Irish accent boom through the bus. Niall!
I jumped out of bed and ran towards where everyone else was. Niall always knew how to make any of us smile, and he sort of understood what was happening between Harry and I. Plus, he deserved a greeting just as loving as the other boys.
He was standing next to Liam with a seriously look as they talked away from the others. Harry and Zayn waited patiently, looking bored. "Hey, Niall," I exclaimed, making him know of my presence; that I wasn't going to shut him out because of Modest!'s new rule. He showed me his pointer finger, signaling towards me to wait. I joined with the other boys and took part in standing awkwardly. Niall nodded, then came rushing towards me, knocking me to the floor.
"I'm sorry," he whispered before getting up, then helping me off the dirty ground. I mouthed a "thanks" and sat down.
"Help me put this shit away?" I nodded and followed him into his section of the bus. Harry followed. This happened a lot. Since Niall understood what Harry and I were going through (because of his girlfriend), we always used stupid excuses to get away so we can all vent to someone understands.
In a nutshell, Niall has a girlfriend and no one knows about her except us. What happened was, Niall had known this girl since grade four, and they ended up dating. The first time they did, after two months they broke up. She broke up with him. . . for another girl. Then she realized that Niall was better and they got back together. The Horan family didn't want Niall to get hurt again, and the fact that she left him the first time for a girl annoyed them. After the breakup, all of her secrets got leaked to the family too, and they didn't want him around that influence. All in all, his parents thinks he hates her, meanwhile he's head-over-heels for her.
"I just heard the news," Niall said, pulling out a blue shirt and folding it, placing it in the drawer next to his bed. I sat down on the orange, white and green sheets (yes, Niall has Irish flag colored sheets). I nodded, not really sure how to respond.
"It sucks," Harry said, filling the silence.
"I hear ya. Listen to his one: my parents started talking crap in front of me about Samantha. I was thisclose to saying something. This close." He pinched his fingers a mere centimeter apart, and then went back to folded clothes.
Harry picked up Niall's boxers - should I say tighty-whities - and waved them in the air, laughing. He jumped for them but couldn't reach Harry's hand. Hell, neither could I.
"But, mate," I said after Niall successfully grabbed Harrys underwear from his reach, "That sucks. She's a nice girl, too! Its seriously f'ed up."
"Louis is right." Harry picked up socks and threw them into an empty drawer.
"I mean, I guess they're just looking out for me but I'm twenty. I think I can make my own choices. I'm in a boy band travelling the world for heck's sake!" He threw his arms in the air and fell onto his bed in despair. It's true, that Niall should be able to date Samantha without any issues from his parents. It makes a little more sense that you'd dislike your son's significant other if he was a male if you're homophobic. Niall was perfectly straight though, and the Horans weren't homophobic at all. As a matter of fact, there were as for Harry and I just as Niall! More than my sisters, for sure.
"Totally," Harry agreed.
"Yea. But sorry, I totally changed the subject. The new change?" Sigh.
"I don't know how much discrete we can make it without cussing each other out."
"Modest! are idiots, I swear. Everyone is catching on because they're trying so hard, nonetheless failing so terribly, to hide it. It's making it obvious. You see the posts."
"Indeed we do," Harry stated, smirking.
"And the smut." I laughed.
"Oh!" Niall winked and for some reason I felt better, lighter. Some sick sense was telling it was going to be okay as I joked around with Niall and my boyfriend about what we see on Tumblr. Everything would be okay with Niall and Samantha, too, and we wouldn't have to live in secret anymore. Our loves will be equal and accepted.
Niall had already put his things away, and now we were just joking around about Modest!'s attempts to hide the facts of the big deal that, yes, Larry was real. How about when they photo shopped El into a picture? Niall would say. Then Harry would say Which time!? We went on for fifteen minutes, laughing, impersonating and mocking and I knew this was what I was looking forward to. Not hiding and generally being okay. My sexuality was okay here, and my relationship was accepted. It was like my dreams. . . where I was happy, we were happy, I didn't have to hide. It was perfect. A fairytale compared to reality. After those doors were opened and I was in pubic or on that stage, it was pulled away again. And that was the worst part.
For now, though, I could forget about that. I could kiss Harry and screw him senseless all I wanted. I had to live in the moment because the next minute I'd have to act like I couldn't stand Harry Styles, even if I was in love with him.
[A/N: I'm A NIALL GIRL OKAY DONT JUDGE ME. Anyway, I'm really proud of this chapter. I think it's well-written, especially the ending. I hope you enjoy reading as much as I did writing!]
