[Goals for the chapter: READS - 170 // COMMENTS - 1]
My knuckles turned white as I gripped the bar in fear, just wanting to leave. Harry sat on the bench behind me, tapping his feet on the cold, concrete floor. There were no harmonicas, or soap to make into crazy shapes, no, this was real-life jail. We had been thrown into the slammer.
According to the law, because of what we had done to prepare to run - dress up - we were in violation of the law, not to mention the bribing we did (turns out that woman was an authority of the law). Anyway, dressing up as we did to disguise ourselves is impersonation, even if we used our own names, plus, we bribed an officer. In our defense, we didn't know she was a cop. What cop works as a check-in lady at Day and Night Inn?
The interrogators (excluding Christine) didn't believe our story - which was actually one hundred percent true - of how we did not even begin to think of what we did as illegal; that we just wanted time alone. In regards, we had to explain to them exactly why we ran, forcing us to tell them we were gay. Let's just say, Christine cried and everyone else just gaped at us. All were sworn to secrecy because this had become a court case anyway, but we still violated our contract. I was happy, though, that some rebellion came out of this; running away but getting caught by the police so easily just hours later for lack of better knowledge that you bribed a cop wasn't so impressive. It was the complete opposite.
"You think we'll be here for a while?" I asked, releasing the bars, knowing that holding on for dear life wouldn't prevent me from staying here for God-knows-how-long.
"Dunno," Harry said, shrugging his shoulders. Yup, that helped. I sat down next to him, placing my hand on his knee.
"At least I have you." I smiled at Harry, his frown trying to hide a smirk. I trailed my hand up his thigh, smirking as he shifted in his seat.
"Not here," he mumbled, pushing my hand away, but I resented. I trailed my hand into his inner thigh and stopped, resting there as he squirmed beneath me, pushing his hips forward.
"Bad boy," I teased, moving my hand and placing it on my own lap. He leaned back, placing his hand on his crotch. I nodded approvingly.
"Styles! Tomlinson" a man yelled, causing me to jump to my feet.
"Y-Yes, Si-ir?" Harry said, grabbing my hand behind my back, squeezing. I squeezed back. The man took a ring of keys off his belt and unlocked the door.
"Out." He pointed towards the door we came in earlier, stepping aside. Briskly, we walked out and towards the door. I was just glad to be out of that damn cell. He followed us closely, pushing us in the correct direction.
We were forcefully pushed into the same room we were in before and the door slammed behind us, leaving us in the dark. A light flicked on. "Hi, Lovebirds," Christine said, raising her eyebrows.
"Uh, hello," I said, sitting in the chair. Harry did the same.
"Your bail is set at 5,000 pounds. You get one call each. Go." She pushed the rotary dial phone in front of us, blinking cheerfully.
"Niall first. I'll call." I spun the wheel, dialing Niall's number. Five, click, one, click, five, click, two, click, four, click, three, click, one, click, five, click. I picked up the phone and put it to my ear as it rang.
"This is Niall Horan. Who are you," he said, his accent pushing through roughly.
"This is Louis Tomlinson. I know who you are," I said, laughing to myself. No laughing in jail.
"Lou!"
"Yea. Look, we got locked up. We need bail. Five-thousand pounds. Could you be a doll and pay for me? Harry will call someone else. I'll pay you back, please," I pleaded, waiting for an answer.
"Sure, mate! Be right down!"
"Thanks! 254 Runningdale, See ya soon!"
"'Ight, bye."
"Bye." I clicked the phone back into the stand and slumped back in my seat, glad that I'd be out of here soon enough. Harry picked up the phone and began to dial, then put it t his ear. HE shook his hand, whispering to the phone to pick up.
"Yes! Hi!. . .Harry. . .Promise. . .Jail. . .Long story. . .yes. . .Please. . . Louis. . .Later. . .Yes, I have bail. . .I need you to pay. . .Five thousand pounds, I'll pay you back. . .He's taken care of. . .Great!. . .Thank you so much. . .254 Runningdale. . .Okay, I will. . .Thanks again, Zayn. . .Bye." Harry clicked the phone back and let out a breath, grabbing my hand.
"You all good?" Christine asked, staring at Harry.
"Yes," I said sternly, causing her eyes to find her paperwork again.
"Okay. You wanna go back or. . .?" she clapped, pushing a bunch of stray papers onto a pile.
"Not really," Harry stifled a laugh, rubbing his lips. Oh, those lips.
"Stay here. We'll discuss. . ." She took out some papers and placed them in front of her, scrambling for a pen. I watched as she scribbled on the paper words I couldn't read.
In the end, running away was worth it in some way. Harry and I had been freed just a bit, even if it meant it was secret. Christine knew, though, for a fact and not by her own ship. That was great. We had a lot of adventures today and were most certainly taught some lessons, along with the law. I guess you really do learn something new everyday. I think the most important thing was that running away from your problems is stupid, it'll land you in jail. The thankfulness I had for Niall was astonishing, without him I'd probably be here all night. And the best thing I learned, was that everything seems a little less painful when you're with someone you love.
