The week was already going by fast, but mostly uneventful. The day before I tried to show Azalea movies, we watched Finding Nemo the night before. Kinda ruined that one, probably a bad idea..
Flash back, During the movie:
"Nemo!"
Azalea nibbled on some popcorn, watching the movie. "Sooo, what's the point of this? Finding his son?"
"Yeah," I nodded. "Nemo is his son and was taken away by divers and he has to try to get him back by traveling the whole ocean."
There was a small pause, then Azalea spoke. "You know the Father clown fish will breed with it's young right? It doesn't matter if they are both males, one of them will swap to another gender so they can breed...... No wonder why he wants him back so badly."
............................ My childhood is now ruined...
Back to present:
I'm glad it's nothing like that as a mermaid. I felt a shiver go up my spine, I couldn't imagine that and I'm even more glad that I couldn't. Now that I think of it... I'm curious how do mermaids have..... Nope! Were not going to that side of the mind!
"Skylar." My Mom walked into my room. I looked up from playing on a tablet she got me for the rest of the time I'm here. Azalea looked up as well.
"I got a surprise for you." She smiled.
"What is it?" I asked.
She beaconed me to follow. "Get in the car and we will see." She disappeared from the door mysteriously.
I looked to Azalea and smiled, then we both got up and rushed out the door to catch up with Mom.
She already beat us to the car, getting in on the driver's side. I threw open the back door and jumped in, Azalea slid in on the back on the other side as well. Mom pulled out of the drive way and away we went in an unknown direction. I looked out the window, watching the sun set, the fluffy cotton-like clouds lay perfectly in the sky.
"So, any idea yet?" Mom looked over her shoulder at me then quickly turned her attention back to the road.
"No." I shook my head. "Would you just tell us where we are going?" a little smile was forced onto my face.
"No but you will see when we get there. I just saw it on the news paper today and thought," She shrugged her shoulders. "Hey, that'll be something fun to do before you leave."
The ride was a little longer than expected, since normally everything was pretty close to the house and would take only a matter of minutes to reach it. The sun has now completely set and the stars were all out. The almost full moon shown brilliantly down onto us as we stepped out of the car. My ears were filled with screams of joy and excitement. My nose caught different sents of sweet and greasy foods. Bright and colorful lights lit up my eyes.
A fair?!
I smiled a big smile, full of excitement.
"Lets go." Mom led the way.
"What is with all of the lights? And why are there so many people screaming? Are they in danger?" Azalea held her hand up to block the lights then took a good look around. Seeing all the spinning rides and roller coasters. She saw a coaster go up a hill then shoot back down.
She jumped. "Oh my gosh! They are in danger! They're going to be killed!" She covered her eyes with her hands.
I grabbed her arms and pulled them down. "No they're not, there fine. This is just a fun way to get a thrill in life. And to be with friends and family."
"R-really? Well a way to get a thrill in life is too live in the ocean. Dealing with sharks and hunters. It really gets your heart pumping."
I smiled at her. "Well we try to avoid dangers like that, and instead we go for safer route."
"Azalea, you have never seen a fair before?" Mom looked back while walking in front of us.
"No." She shook her head.
"Mom, she lives in the ocean." I reminded her.
"I know, but sometimes they put the fair by water."
"We're not allowed to go up or near the surface. My parents keeps the pod away from humans at all coasts." Azalea included herself.
"Oh," Mom nodded, understanding. "Well there's a first for everybody." She smiled warmly down at Azalea.
"Hey! Azalea! Let's go on the roller coaster!" I pointed to the biggest one.
She kinda flinched at seeing it. "T-That one?" She shyly pointed.
"Yeah!" I grabbed her arm and dragged her towards it.
"You two have fun!" Mom yelled after us. "I'll wait right here!"
I pulled her into line, thank goodness it wasn't long. It was actually a pretty small line, and the ride was already letting people off and letting us on. I skipped to our row of seats. It was two seats together, but it had no floor, it was all held from the top so your feet would dangle. I pulled myself into my seat and strapped myself in.
Azalea was a little hesitant on getting on, she looked the seat over first before getting on. She looked over how I was sitting so she would know, she pulled herself onto the seat. Of course not able to lift herself all the way because of the restraints you pull down onto your shoulders prevented her. Her head lightly bumped it, and she tried to sit down but.... yeah, she managed to hurt herself on that little piece that's in the seat and goes in between your legs to help lock you in.
She slightly yelped, her voice going high pitched for a second. I couldn't help but giggle, covering my mouth to get me to stop.
"Are you okay?" I couldn't hide any of my giggles.
She was laughing to herself at her own pain, she nodded, pushing herself properly into the seat.
"I fell too hard into the seat." She snickered at herself.
"Don't worry, I did that too before. We all have." I assured her.
