Pencils of light filtered the dimly lit room as Maya Hart pulled open the blue curtains to wake her 4 year old son up.

"Luke, wakey wakey! Its your first day of school!" She smiled as she pulled open his duvets, only to see it being pulled back by the boy.

"I dont wanna go." He said in a tired, slurry voice.

"Why not?"

"Because."

Maya laughed. "Thats not an answer, baby"

"Yes it is."

"Aw come on, you'll love school. You already love your teacher. "

"But- but what if the other kids dont like me?"

"Why do u think that? Everyone will love you. Your the funniest, sweetest, kindest and most handsome boy I know."

"Hm. If i dont like it, ill never have to go again."

"We'll see about that."

No reply.

"C'mon buddy," she coaxed. "I made your favourite pancakes?"

"With blueberries, maple syrup, mini chocolate chips and whipped cream on top?" His head poked out of the covers to see his mother nodding.

"You got yourself a deal!" Luke said, putting his pinky out for his mother and sitting up, before rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, having them adjust to the light.

"Okay dude, go get ready for the day," Maya said, giving her son a pat on the back before he went towards the bathroom to brush his teeth and towards the kitchen for food. Then, the two set off.

"Lilly, sit still. I cant tie your hair if you dont sit still."

"I cant! Im just too excited for preschool! Im gonna make so many friends!"

Lucas laughed at his 4 year old daughter before she interrupted him.

"Daddy, your not good at tying my hair."

Lucas frowned a little before pulling the hair tie out.

"Would you rather i not tie it?" He asked suggestively and got a nod as an answer. "Alright then. Wanna go eat breakfast and then set off?"

Lilly nodded excitedly and gave her father a cheeky grin.

A/N oh and also Auggie doesnt really appear in the book so just pretend he looks like smt else coz Luke is played by August Maturo.
