"Mommy!" Luke, who was the only one left in the class with the exception of Lilly, ran towards his mother's outstretched arms as Lilly followed behind, gaining a hug from Maya too. They had grown closer since that day at the park. Riley walked towards them.
"What took you so long? Isobel is waiting for me."
"Sorry, unreasonable clients happened."
Riley shrugged, accepting her apology lightheartedly.
"Anyway," Maya said, "Sundance asked me to babysit Lilly."
"YAY!" The kids interrupted, pumping their fists into the air as Riley wiggled her eyebrows at her best friend.
"There's nothing going on between us," maya groaned. "Remember? I dont have feelings for him anymore. Especially after-"
Riley put an understanding hand on Maya's shoulder as Maya smiled gratefully, before holding both kids' hands and the three waved goodbye to Riley.

Arriving at their apartment, Lilly and Luke sat on the couch while Maya prepared lunch, which both kids had requested Spaghetti Bolognese.
"Lunch!" Maya called them after a while and the kids hurried over.
"Mm im starving" Lilly exclaimed, immediately digging in while Luke followed suit. Maya smiled and sat down with them.
"So," Maya asked. "How was school?"
Lilly put down her fork, the inside and surrounding of her mouth full of noodles and sauce, before answering Maya.
"We did family portraits today. Mrs M told us that not all families are the same. Some have Mommies and Daddies but some dont."
Lilly frowned while Luke continued,
"Yea, but me and Lilly agree that we would want both a mommy and daddy."
"Remember what Mommy said, Luke? I have enough love for both a mommy and daddy"
Luke nodded. "Yea but-"
Lilly interrupted, "Why cant you be my mommy and my daddy can be Luke's daddy."
Maya smiled at the children's innocence and replied, "im not sure if your daddy would allow it, but you can call me Mommy, Lilly."
"Weawy?" Lilly's eyes lit up and Luke gave her a thumbs up, agreeing.
Maya laughed as the three enjoyed the rest of their meal in silence.
