The next morning, Millie woke up to find Finn lying fast asleep beside her. She didn't want to wake him, so she quietly got out of bed and climbed down the ladder, quickly walking home. A few people gave her weird looks as she scurried down the sidewalk in oversized clothes and messy hair, but she ignored them.
When she arrived home, both of her parents were already at work, so she casually walked inside, heading up to her room and lying back on her bed, her mind racing with thoughts about Finn and the night before.
Millie realized she had to call off the bet. Finn wasn't just a bet to her anymore, he wasn't just one guy she had to hurt. Finn was a good guy, and he liked Millie.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock, a loud knock, at the door. Millie quickly got up from her bed and ran down the stairs, opening the door to see who it was.
"Do you realize what you've done?"
Millie took a step back, her eyes growing wide. Sadie was standing at her door, a look of anger on her freckled face.
"what are you talking about?" Millie asked, slowly backing away from the fiery red head. Sadie was dangerous when she was mad.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about, so quit the nice girl act, Millie." Sadie spat, walking into the house and slamming the door behind her.
"I don't-" Millie started, but Sadie quickly cut her off, "you told Caleb to break up with me, didn't you? You and that frog boy."
Millie's eyes widened, quickly realizing what Sadie was so mad about. "He broke up with you because you cheated on him." Millie spoke quietly. She'd never stood up to Sadie before.
Sadie rolled her eyes, "he would've forgiven me if it wasn't for you're little late night talk."
"Sadie, you can't just cheat on someone and expect forgiveness. Caleb actually cared about you."
"and I cared about him." Sadie said, her voice now quiet and tears threatening to fall from her blue eyes, "I still do."
"If you cared about him, you wouldn't have cheated on him." Millie sighed, "You just can't stop breaking hearts, can you?"
"And you're any better? Look at what you're doing to Finn!" Sadie shouted.
"That's not the same thing." Millie paused, running her hands through her short hair, "I'm calling off the bet, Sads."
Sadie rolled her eyes. "It's too late for that, Millie." Sadie paused, letting out a cold laugh, "He'll find out eventually, maybe he already has."
Millie could feel her heart sink at the words she was hearing. She never wanted to break his heart, she never wanted any of this. Sure, she agreed to the bet, but that was before.
Millie let out a shaky breath, trying her best to hold back the tears threatening to fall, "y-you wouldn't." She stuttered.
Sadie gave Millie a smug smile, turning on her heels and walking towards the door. "oh, Millie," she paused, turning back around and facing the girl, "I already did."
Millie's mouth fell open. Sadie told Finn about the bet? "W-when did you-" She stuttered.
Sadie shrugged, "Right before I came here. He was a mess when I told him, completely heart broken. I guess you can break hearts, Mills."
With those last words, the red head walked out the door, leaving Millie a confused mess.
Sadie had told Finn about the bet. He knew everything.
