"The Local?"
Iris laughed, "yes, Millie, the Local. Pretty much everyone from our school goes there on Friday nights."
Millie looked wary, "I've never been."
The Local was a small venue in town that mostly held small concerts. Millie had never been before, all she really knew about it was that Sadie would go there to meet boys sometimes.
"Really?" Iris grinned, "Well, good thing we're going tonight."
Millie frowned, "will Finn be there?"
"Oh, definitely," Iris hopped up from the bed and walked over to her closet, "he always goes."
"I don't think he'd want me there."
"He doesn't own the Local, Millie. Besides, everyone from our school goes, it wouldn't be because of him." Iris said while looking through her closet.
Normally, the thought of going to the Local would make Millie nervous, but instead she felt excited. It was unlike her, really, but maybe she was changing.

"You look good."
Millie looked over her outfit in the mirror. "Really?" Iris had let the girl borrow one of her dresses.
Iris laughed, "yes, Mills. You pull it off way better than me. We gotta go, Jaeden's here." The girl grabbed Millie's hand and the two ran out to Jaeden's car.
"Wow, my friends are hot." Sophia complimented Millie and Iris as the got in the car.
"Says you! You look like a model." Iris replied, giving the girl a tight hug.
Wyatt jokingly rolled his eyes, "you all look good. Now shut up."
"is someone sad no one told him he looks good?" Sophia said, faking a pout and causing everyone to laugh.
Jaeden shrugged, "I, for one, think Wyatt looks great."
"My jyatt heart." Millie gasped, dramatically clutching her heart and falling back against her seat.
"We're here, so you can all stop being annoying now." Iris laughed, hopping out of the car as soon as Jaeden put it in park.
As the five friends walked into the venue, Millie glanced around the Local for the first time. It was a lot like she expected, dim lights, humid air, and a lot of teenagers.
Iris nudged the girl, "So, how are you liking it so far?" She asked, talking loudly over the music.
"It's nice. Pretty much what I thought it would be." Millie replied, trying to get a better look around. She understood why Finn liked coming here, it reminded her of him.
"They have sodas and stuff if you want. No drinks, obviously." Iris laughed to herself.
Millie nodded, hardly paying attention to the girl anymore. Though she wouldn't admit it, she wanted to see Finn. Was she becoming desperate? He doesn't care about her anymore, why was it so hard for her to understand?
"You wanna dance?" A voice yelled, causing Millie to snap out of her thoughts. There was a boy in front of her, one she didn't recognized. She looked around, realizing she was in the middle of a large crowd of dancing teens, and her friends were gone.
"Uh- no thanks." She replied, turning away from him and swiftly making her way out of the crowd, finding herself at a soda bar. A light up sign read free cherry cola on the back wall. A boy that looked a year or two older than Millie was working behind the counter.
Millie raised her eyebrows, walking over to the counter and leaning over it a little, feeling a rush of confidence as she did so.
"Free cherry cola, huh?" She spoke, causing the boy behind the counter to turn around.
He smirked, nodding and stepping closer to Millie, "and you are?"
Millie rested her chin in her hand, looking up at the boy, "A girl that wants a free soda." She smiled innocently.
He shook his head, laughing at the girl's sarcasm, "Well, I'm Lucas. Nice to meet you, 'girl that wants a free soda'."
"Lucas, I like that. It's Millie, by the way." She twirled her curly hair with her pointer finger, remembering all the times she'd watched Sadie do the same thing.
Lucas nodded, "millie, I like that." He mocked, causing the girl to giggle.
"When you're done flirting, can I get a soda?" A voice, an all too familiar voice, spoke from behind Millie.
The girl turned around, finding Finn standing behind her. He was already looking at her, causing her face to heat up as she turned back to Lucas.
"Chill out, dude." Lucas rolled his eyes at Finn, grabbing a cherry cola from the refrigerator behind him.
"Maybe don't flirt with my girlfriend, then I'll chill out." Finn said it so naturally, Millie almost didn't notice.
Girlfriend.
She turned around once again, looking up at Finn. He wasn't looking at her anymore, instead he was glaring at Lucas.
"Sorry, I didn't know she had a boyfriend." He mumbled, running his hand through is hair and walking away.
Millie glared at Finn, her heart pounding and her head spinning. She shook her head, pushing past him and making her way out of the building. She didn't know where she was going, she just knew she needed to go.
Once she stepped outside, the cold night air hit her bare arms, causing her to shiver as she walked to the curb and sat down. She watched Finn walk out as well, looking around before quickly walking over to her and sitting down.
The boy slipped off his denim jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders, leaving his arms exposed to the cold. He didn't mind.
"I don't understand." Millie whispered, slipping her arms into the sleeves of Finn's jacket. It felt warm, and smelled just like him. Cookies and cigarettes.
Millie looked up at the dark haired boy, and he was already looking at her. He put his hand on her flushed cheek, tucking her curls behind her ear.
"You look beautiful." Finn spoke quietly. He felt nervous, as if they had just met. Finn knew he had feelings for this girl, he never stopped having feelings for her.
Without warning, the boy quickly leaned in, their cold lips meeting for the first time in what felt like forever. Millie pulled away a moment later, slowly opening her tired eyes and looking at the boy.
"I'm sorry." Millie spoke. She realized she was crying, because this all felt like too much and she wasn't sure what else to do. Finn grabbed her hand and Millie rested her head on his shoulder, both teenagers sitting in silence.
