pretending

Although I knew about Ben cheating on me it still gave the same effect. Hurt. I hadn't  been to school in a week and I think people were starting to get worried. Linda, Luke and Michael visited everyday and Calum visited when he could. My Mum and my Aunt haven't got back yet, so it's not like they'd know.
"Morning M."
"Morning Jax."
"Are you ok today?" He asked
"Better, still hurt." Considering Jax is only 13, he's smart with these things. Things do really age you.
"It'll get better, CalPals back now isn't he?"
"Yeah, your point is?"
"Get BenJealous." he says like I'm stupid.
I thought about it for a moment.
"Jax, you're a genius!"
"I know." He said, re-adjusting his collar.
I cupped my hands around his cheek and crashed my lips onto his forehead, stumbled back a bit. I grabbed my phone and darted out the house, making my way to Calum's. His house was only a short distance considering he only lived a few houses down.
I walked up the stone pathway, stopping at the door and knocking quickly.
The door swings open revealing Mali.
"Is Calum home?" I immediately say, not actually saying hello.
"Yeah he's in his bedroom."
"Do you mind?" I say politely
"Go ahead." She says moving aside, letting me in.
"Thanks Mali!" I say quickly pulling her into a hug. I run upstairs bursting into Calum's room.
"Calum, I need you to do me a BIG favour." I say, not caring if anyone else was in there.
"Mercury?" I look around, his room was the same but the people weren't. I looked down, Calum was at on his bed but Luke and Michael sat on the coloured bean bags below. Calum and Luke were concentrating on a game, while Michael sat back and ate popcorn out of the bag. Calum pauses the game. Luke finally looks up when I say his name.
"Luke?" What the hell's going on here. Michael doesn't look away from the bottom of the popcorn bag, looking to where it's all gone.
"Michael," Luke knudges.
"Mercury." Michael says.
"What the fucks going on?" I ask.
"Nothing, me and Calum's sorted things out."
"I see, good anyway, er, Cal can I talk to you please?"
"Sure." He gets up from his bed and passes Michael the controller, they continue the game while Calum makes his way out the door.
"So will you do me a massive favour?" I ask
"Depends" He states, crossing his arms over his chest

"Pretend to be my boyfriend so I can make Ben jealous." Calum was sinister and cruel like that, I loved it.

"Can do." he says easily. Well that was easier than I thought.
I jump around shouting a couple thank you's

"Mia, mum never said I couldn't get picked up by someone else!" Usually Aunt Mia doesn't get involved in mum and I's arguments but today she did.
"No, now go get ready you're going to miss the bus!"
"Fine!" I give up making my way to my room and getting myself ready. I curled my hair, put on a little makeup, put my beanie and my outfit on and headed to the bus stop. I saw Ashton, reading a book.
"What you got there?" I ask
He looked up,
"Erm, I'm re-reading the Harry Potters."
"What one you on." I ask, I'm intrigued.
"I'm on goblet of fire."
"I'd say that's my favourite."
"Me too."
A layer of awkward silence was coated apon us,
"Has your mum given back your keys yet?" He says, starting another conversation, it's a lot more awkward than it was when he first met.
"No, and I don't even understand why!"
"Here she is."
"Who?" I say turning around, I see no one.
"The brat in you."
"Oh." I say ashamed.
"Why did you get them taken away again?"
"Because I brought a boy home, through the window!"
"I remember." He mumbled
"What?"
"Nothing,"He said clearer this time, "the bus is here." I look up as it turns the corner.
he hopped on the bus and started talking as we did the other day. Weird.
"Mercury?" Calum asks
"Yeah?"
"Why are you hanging with him?"
"Because actually he was my friend first." He went to say something else about my mum but then Ashton stopped him, that was odd.
"Bye M."
"Bye Cal?" And he returned to his previous seat.
"Can I have your number." I ask him
"Sure, here." And he passes home his unlocked phone.
I save myself as 'Mercury x' and type the first message, 'hey' I hear my phone ping and save Ash to 'Ashton x'

"Mercury, I just want to say, I'm sorry, it was a really rude thing to steal your boyfriend, this is all my fault, I hope you can forgive me."Melody apologises
"Well if you're so sorry now why did it happen in the first place, slag" Linda tries to hold in her giggles as Melody storms away over to Ben.
It hurts.
"It'll be alright." A familiar voice tells me.
"But will it dad?" I whisper, looking down at my bracelet, tears forming in my eyes.
"I tell you know, it will, you will meet a lovely man one day and although I won't be there in person on your wedding day, I'll be there in spirit." My dad always told me that, even when he was dying. He used to say 'if I die' a year and a half later those 'if's' turned into 'when's' and my fourteen year old self believed, he died soon after he gave my the silver bracelet that is now basically glued to my wrist. For months on end I told myself it was my fault he got cancer and that it was my fault he died. Even when my mum and siblings told me it wasn't I always thought it was because I made him buy me everything I wanted, I'm a spoilt brat really, and I hate it.
"Mercury what's wrong." Calum coed
"My dad, I keep talking to my dad."
"Aw bless you." And he engulfed me in a hug.
"It will be ok, M."
"How do you know."
"Because you are the strongest person I know." He says kissing my temple lightly.
"I love you Calum." I said it and I meant it. I heard two pairs of stomping feet walking away from me and Cal. I look up to see the familiar black hoodie and the brown haired boy. What's Ash's problem?
"I love you too M."
And our lips collided, it wasn't rough like the other kisses me and Calum have encountered, it was soft and full of passion.
"When do we stop pretending?"
I look at my watch,
"About two minutes ago." I say jokingly

I guess this won't be as bad as I thought it would be.
